Business Laws (Core Subject)

1. Course Objective:

The main objective of this course is to enable students understand the legal and
regulatory framework in which businesses operate in India.
Learning Outcome of this course in first semester would enable students to
understand the formalities involved in incorporating company and the nuances
related to law of contract and further they would also be able to know the
implications of Direct and Indirect taxes, Consumer protection, negotiable
instruments and also about the cyber laws.

2. Course Duration:
The course duration is of 36 sessions of 60 minutes each i.e. 36 hours.

Sale of goods Act -1930: General Principles,
Conditions & Warranties, and Performance of
Contract of Sale, Auction
IV IPR- Introduction, their major types like Patents, 6 20%
Trademarks, Copyrights, Industrial designs, etc.
Important provisions. With respect to registration,
renewal, revocation, remedies in case of
infringement. IT ACT 2008 (amended): Digital
signature, Cyber Crime ( tactics of hacking.)

V Consumer Protection Act 1986: Introduction, 5 20%

The students will be evaluated on a continuous basis and broadly follow the scheme
