The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Treaty of Trade of
the Peoples or ALBA-TCP (sometimes called unofficially by its initial name
Bolivarian Alliance for America or ALBA) is an International Organization of
regional scope, founded in 2004, formed by countries of Latin Americaand the
Caribbean that emphasizes the fight against poverty and social exclusion based
on left doctrines.
It is a project of collaboration and political, social and economiccomplementation
between certain countries of Americaand the Caribbean, initially promoted by
Cuba and Venezuelaas counterpart of the FTAA (Free Trade Area of the
Americas), promoted by the United States.

Read the following text about the alba program.

Beneficiary of ALBA funded “HAMBRE CERO PROGRAM (Zero Hunger program). Rural women
andtheir families have been provided with animals, poultry, seeds and technical training and
assistance.

The aim of the program is to improve food security and

enable women to generate an income fortheir families.
ALBA, formally the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of
Our America (Spanish: AlianzaBolivariana para los Pueblos
de NuestraAmérica), is an intergovernmental based on the
idea of the social, political and economic integration of the
countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. The
agreement was proposed by the government of Venezuela,
led by President Hugo Chávez, (Rest in peace). ALBA
means daybreak, a hope, a new opportunity for Latin

American nations to use their resources for trade exchange to escape from poverty and ensure an
equitable distribution of wealth. That is why we categorically recognize the positive impact of ALBA on
Nicaragua. A way that promotes solidarity and cooperation while respecting national
sovereignty(Soberania)

The Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) is an agreement between the United States
and six countries, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and the Dominican
Republic. Opening several markets for Nicaraguan products Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas
(ALBA) is an international cooperation organization based upon the idea of social, political, and
economic integration between the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
