Unity in Number and Person
One way to achieve unity in the sentence is to observe consistency
in number (singular, plural) and person. Unity in number and person
entails agreement of subject and verb, and agreement of pronoun with its
antecedent.
A. Agreement of Subject and Verb in the Sentence/Clause
1. General Rule
Note the subject-verb agreement in the following sentences/
clauses taken from the reading selection.
a. The sentences are in the natural order.
Modern theories posit an incompatibility/dissonance
between modernization processes and traditional values and

The studies tend to treat modernization as a threat to
