30 Year Veteran Teacher Opens School to Help Challenged Students Education

Transformation Centre to Open Fall 2018

Dr. Dolores Carr has taught in various public schools and colleges throughout Central Virginia
over the past 30 years. Dr. Dolores Carr will open the Education Transformation Centre in the Fall
of 2018, with a goal of helping challenged students develop the necessary tools, skill sets, and
growth opportunities to help them succeed. Dr. Carr provides a targeted approach to helping
reduce suspensions and other school disciplinary measures for students in Central Virginia.

Charlottesville, VA, September 25, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Suspensions, detentions, and other school-based
disciplinary measures have been a hot topic following the passing of Governor Ralph Northam's
controversial bill to enact statewide reform for school discipline.

In a 2016 article published in The Daily Progress, Michael Bragg indicates that Virginia schools doled
out 126,000 out of school suspensions to over 70,000 students during the academic school year. The
article highlights suspensions given out by districts in Central Virginia as being noticeably high compared
to districts in other parts of the state.

Local veteran teacher, Dr. Dolores Carr saw a way to help students who are most at risk of academic
failure, dropping out of school or having a negative encounter with the justice system, due to repeated
disciplinary issues. The Education Transformation Centre will open its doors to its first students this Fall.

Born from a shortage in alternative education schools and program for at-risk students, the Education
Transformation Centre will offer interactive activities, soft skills development, and passion identification.
Education Transformation Centre will deliver group and individual therapy with the goal of reconnecting
the student back into a traditional classroom setting after 6 weeks.

Founder & Educator, Dr. Dolores Carr has taught in Charlottesville, Albemarle, and Fluvanna County
Schools districts over the past 30 years. Inspired by some of the observations she uncovered while
studying for her Doctorate in Education, Dr. Carr sought to make a career pivot, and dedicate her efforts
towards helping the region's most vulnerable students by equipping them with the tools and skill sets
required for personal and career success.

Dr. Carr states that one of her life's mantras is “I am not responsible for my beginning in life, but I am
responsible for my ending.” Through the Education Transformation Centre, Dr. Carr hopes to create
generations of happy endings for some of Central Virginia's most at-risk students.

Education Transformation Centre will be housed in the Yancey Community Center, located at 7625
Porters Road, Esmont, Virginia and will welcome its first students in October 2018. You may donate to
