● SJSB brought together 125+ members of extraction communities, college students, environmentalists
and concerned residents who are interested in learning more about fracking, other forms of
extraction, as well as other environmental justice issues. Participants will also learn about the history
of resistance, and about plugging into and collaborating with current campaigns and projects.

My roles:
● Identified and communicated with campus coordinators; identifying target demographics for
outreach; letting the world know about SJSB before, during and after camp; manage
website/Facebook page and did promotion
● Found a hosting site for camp; managed grounds, equipment, and transportation; liaised with site
director; bottom lined cleanup
● Created expected budget, negotiated donations from partner organizations, keeping track of
expenditures, tracking and proposing any travel reimbursements – In 2014, successfully raised over
$13,000 for the event through co-sponsorships, grants, registration fees, private donations and
fundraising events.
● Determined workshop agenda for the week, identified potential speakers, assigned rooms, confirmed
AV equipment and other materials
● Created frameworks for dealing with conflict within the planning collective and at camp
● Facilitated the Fracking 101 workshop

order to hear directly from residents about their experiences living in the shalefields and to better
understand how our organization could directly support impacted communities.
