1) PURPOSE

This Method Statement covers the installation of conduit, cast in situ, concealed
on Block walls, surface mounted, and ceiling space for lighting , power, fire
alarm, telephone, CCTV, Card Access System, MATV systems, PA Systems, and
Networking System

2) SCOPE OF WORKS

The procedure will define the method to be used to ensure that the conduit
installation and workmanship are correct and acceptable to Local Authority
requirement.

3) STORAGE

Conduit and accessories are properly stored at site, conduit shall be

protected from sunlight and moisture. Conduit accessories are also kept in
proper manner

4) PRE-INSTALLATION

All materials and documentation relevant to this particular section of work wll
be checked by the Supervisor prior to commencement of work. Ensure that
all materials for this particular work are of approved type and approved by
Local Authority / Consultant.

5) INSTALLATION

Conduit Installation - Cast in Situ

* Measure and mark up the shuttering for the position of the boxes for
lighting, power, telephone and data, fire alarm points and droper for
switch points, bell , brake glass, etc.

* Fix the boxes in the designated locations ensure that boxes are filled with
packing materials to prevent cement sediments to accumulate inside the box

* Waiting for 1st layer of reinforcement bar to be installed

* Installed in Situ conduits as per Construction drawings / shop drawings, tie the
conduits into the steel bars. Ensure that maximum run of the conduit between
boxes shall not exceed 20 to 25 meter. Pull boxes are provided for more than
25 mter run conduit. Ensure that the conduits are not damaged during the 2nd
layer of steel installation.

* Raise request for inspection of conduit installation.

* Make sure inspection is conducted with relevant parties before pouring concrete

Embedded Conduits on Wall :

* Mark the position of the boxes and conduits on wall.

* Chase the wall using with appropriate tools electronics concrete cutter and
jack hammer (small) to use for this purpose.

* Fix the boxes in the final position .

* Make sure the boxes are properly aligned

* Install embedded conduits

* Plaster work will commence once the conduit works are completed.

Surface Mounted Conduits Installation :

* Mark the conduit route in the wall or ceiling.

* Mark the position of boxes

* Install the boxes in the proper location

* Install saddle and clamp at an Interval of 1 meter to 1.5meter

* Ensure that conduit run in proper order and parallel run

Conduit in Ceiling Space and Dry Wall Partition

* Conduits are fixed in the ceiling space / dry wall partitions if necessary.
Support with ceiling runners or brackets. Each support will be at
1 to 1.5 meter interval. Conduit shall be tie properly to the brackets, or runners
in the wall and ceiling respectively. Boxes are properly tied to the drywalls.

* Flexible pvc conduit will be connected to the slab junction boxes to the trunking
for subcircuits or main run if it is long distance. At Junction box side fix with a
dome cover to connect the flexible conduit, trunking side shall be connected with
male and female adaptors to properly fix the conduits, proper adhesive to
use for conduit installation. Flexible conduit is used to connect the wiring from
the ceiling to the light fittings.

List of Materials

* 20mm conduit for lighting & power. 25mm conduit for telephone and data
cable which goes more than one point.

* 3" x 3" boxes using for switches. Circular box, tee box, though boxes are
using for junction boxes and pull boxes.

* Socket boxes are located 300mm above the floor level. Switchboxes are installed
at 1.2m height from floor level.

* 3" x 6" pvc box are used for 2x13A SSO

* 3" x 3" pvc box are used for 1 x 13A SSO

* Flexible conduits are using for junction boxes from the slab to the ceiling levels.

8) INSPECTION

Regular Inspection will be carried out before the concreting work, inspection
checklist will kept by Main-Contractor and Consultant for further reference
and record.

Tradesman shall ensure that site is clean and tidy before leaving the site.
