The idea for the work for the students going to Spanish 2 Honors is given as a way for you to be better
prepared when September comes. Congratulations to your choice to be an honors student. As an honor
student, you are more motivated and responsible than the average student. I would like to be able to start the
year in September your skills in Spanish 1 well developed. Therefore, you need to review Spanish one this
summer by way of this summer assignments. We will pass through the course faster than Spanish 2 regular
so it is essential that you maintain your Spanish ability. Below is the required work that is due the first day of
school.

There are three components of the summer assignment:

1. Spanish 1 Verb List
2. Weekly Journal
3. Spanish 2 textbook assignments (review of Spanish 1)

1. The Spanish 1 verb list is attached. These are all the verbs from Spanish that you should know upon
entering Spanish 2. There will be a test the first week of school on these verbs from English to
Spanish. These are verbs that will hamper your comprehension if you do not know them. I
recommend you make flash cards and study them.

2. The weekly journal is just that – a journal. Please start your journal the week of June 26. Every week
for ten weeks during the summer you must type at least 100 words in Spanish about anything. Please
include a wide range of Spanish.

3. You must bring your school ID to check out a SPANISH 2 book from the NORTH HIGH
SCHOOL library. 8th graders may use their own school ID to check out a book. A relative or friend
can pick up the book if they have the 8th graders ID.

Important! You can ONLY check out summer assignment books from 8am to 12pm
on June 25th and 26th (Wednesday and Thursday). After this date, you must wait until August
31 –Sept 3 registration.
