and data analytics seeking a data science position.

SKILLS

EXPERIENCES
University of California Riverside, Research Assistant, Riversdie, CA, 2014 to Current
Developed my research experience by collaboration with excellent researchers in nding solutions to highly challenging quantitative problems such as:
Wireless Communications Secrecy: Proposed a new perspective into the security of wireless channels by distinguishing between the di erent statistical estimation methods an eavesdropper can
use to decode the stolen information. Provided numerical results with Matlab using Monte Carlo simulations. The proposed framework maintains secrecy even if the eavesdropper is super capable.
Power Outage Prediction: Collaborated remotely with a fellow data scientist on a paper proposing the rst-ever model to predict the number of monthly vegetation-related outages in power
distribution lines. Achieved normalized mean absolute error as low as 0.1 using a novel hybrid model of time series analysis and nonlinear regression. Performed data analysis such as clustering,
outlier detection, missing value imputation, SVM, Random Forrest, Neural Networks regression, ARIMA and Holt-Winters time series analysis using python libraries such as Pandas, Matplotlib,
NumPy, and Scikit-Learn.
Dimensionality Reduction: Conducted a thorough investigation of Sparse Representation Based Face Recognition.

Boise State University, Research Intern, Boise, ID, Summer 2015

Worked as a research intern on problems such as:
Statistical Analysis: Explored the maximum likelihood and Bayesian estimation methods for estimating wireless channels in mm-wave using the direction of arrival.
Massive MIMO: Analyzed the potential of Massive MIMO in 5G networks.

Wireless Multimedia Communications Lab, Researcher, Tehran, Iran, 2012 to 2014

Worked on some exciting projects such as:
Indoor positioning using sensor fusion and pattern recognition: Proposed a novel method for indoor pedestrian navigation using machine learning. To evaluate my method, I wrote an Android
app as well as running Monte Carlo simulations in Matlab. Achieved positioning error lower than 3 feet.
Data transfer using sound waves: Invented a new way for mobile devices to communicate without any extra infrastructure using sound waves and evaluated it by running experiments in Matlab
using actual data from mobile devices. This method can be used for applications that require low-rate communication.
Android app development for online food ordering: Programmed an Android app that handles the online orders for a restaurant.

PROJECTS
Intent Classification (NLP)
Achieved 99% accuracy classifying 7 classes of written commands using deep learning with Keras. Explored di erent variations of both RNN and CNN architectures in conjunction with Dropout, Dense, and
Embedding (using GloVe word embeddings) layers to achieve the best results.

Sarcasm Detection (NLP)

Explored the the potential of NLP using deep learning in detecting sarcastic remarks. Used several novel architectures to realize the potential of deep learning in NLP. Achieved around 71% accuracy
(human accuracy is 81%) on the test set using ULMFiT model from fast.ai library.

Style Transfer (CV)

Wrote a script to transfer the style of a picture to a sequence of frames from a video using Keras. The script achieves eye-pleasing results with just one gradient descent update of the input frame. The CNN
model used for the derivation of visual style and content is VGG19.
