Stage objectives:

Primary Education should contribute to the achievement of the objectives set out in general
th​
education by Law 12/2009 of July 10​ , and specifically of the following objectives:

a) Know, evaluate and apply the values and norms of coexistence to become a citizen freely
able to make individual and collective commitments, respect human rights and accept the
pluralism of a democratic society.

b) Become aware of the value of individual and collective work and develop habits of hard
work in studying, as well as attitudes of confidence, personal initiative and
entrepreneurship, self-discipline, critical sense, responsibility, interest, taste for learning and
creativity in learning.

c) Acquire the skills to maintain and improve the climate of coexistence and to prevent and
manage conflicts in a positive manner, in family contexts as well as in school and social
contexts.

d) Respect a person’s right to be different, and critically discuss the cultural and religious
differences from an intercultural perspective.

e) Acquire personal independence and develop a positive image and elaborate oneself to
promote equal rights and opportunities between men and women and non-discrimination
of people with disabilities; defend the application of rights in all personal and social life,
without discrimination by reason of birth, race, sex, opinion or any other personal or social
condition or circumstance.

f) Develop basic language skills both in Catalan and in Spanish, so as to be able to


communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

g) Place value on reading and the habit of reading, as a basic activity to achieve personal
goals and participate in reading time proposed by the school during class time.

h) Acquire, in at least one foreign language, basic communicative skills that allow one to
express and understand simple messages and communicate with others in everyday
situations.

i) Develop basic math skills in problem solving which requires carrying out basic arithmetic,
knowledge of geometry and general estimations, and applying them to real life situations.
j) Know, value and appreciate the social, cultural and natural reality in your immediate
environment, reinforcing the sense of belonging and the ability to extrapolate this
knowledge to the world in general; understand, from observation, the mechanisms that
govern this environment being able of responsibly committing to maintaining it or
introducing elements for improvement.

k) Use different representations and artistic expressions and initiate oneself in the
construction of visual works.

l) Develop digital skills for the construction and expression of age-appropriate learning.

m) Develop affective capacities in all aspects of personality and in the way of relating
oneself with others, and encourage gender equality, as an attitude against violence and to
any prejudice.

n) Value the importance of hygiene and health, accept one’s own body and that of the
others, respect differences and use physical education to promote personal and social
development.

o) Acquire basic road safety education and attitudes of respect which promote the
prevention of traffic accidents.

p) Apply, in diverse contexts, a variety of knowledge acquired and their own resources, so as
to creatively solve problems, personal situations and needs of daily life.
