Five-Year Career Plan

The Five-Year Career Plan is designed to help you develop skills in your current job or
to prepare for your next job. Your five-year plan is very much an individual and
personal plan, and is designed to facilitate your growth, development and advancement.
Always use the SMART model when setting goals: Specific, Measurable, Attainable,
Realistic and within a specific Timeframe.

Plan Period: From - September 2018 To - September 2023

My Current Position: Business Level 3 year 2 student

My Long-Term Goal: Marketing director

Intermediate Steps Over the Next Five Years to Reach My Goal

Try to set two or three short term goals (i.e. those in the next 2 years) and
the remainder for the medium term (following 3 years)
My target for the year one is to pass my maths Level 2, and pass with the
Year One highest grades possible which are D* D* D from Level 3 Business which
will be the first part of my plan achieved because if I accomplish this, it will
lay down the foundation for me in terms reaching my goal. By the end of
year one I will update my CV and apply for an apprenticeship in marketing,
I will apply to various different companies and hopefully be offered an
apprenticeship.

My target for year 2 is to pass an interview at a marketing firm and find an

also want to give a good first impression to my employers and collegues
and I aim to meet all the deadlines I have to meet.
My target for year 3 is to be nail down a position in marketing. I want to

big step for in terms of reaching my ultimate goal of becoming marketing
director one day.
The plan for my 4th year is to move up the ranks and recieve a promotion
Year Four to higher job role, and if I recieve this promotion I want to use the platform
as a stepping stone for further promotions in my career, and If i do this
successfully then I will have a very big chance and opportunity to reach my
ultimate goal.
The plan for my 5th year is to gain a promotion to the marketing director’s
Year Five role of a business company, I want to make sure that I give my all to my job
role and do the best I can for the company and I want to make sure we
market our products in such a way that we gain customers from rivals and
competitors and I want to ensure that from the marketing side of things, our
company is the number 1 in the United Kingdom.
 Personal Development Objectives to Meet My Goals
(what do I need to do to get where I want to be?)
To get where I need to be, I will firstly need to have all the relevant qualifications needed
to get a job in marketing. Secondly I will need to take the job seriously from day 1 and
give out a good impression of myself to my collegues. I will also need to try my hardest
and give my time and effort to my job ensuring all deadlines are met, evereything under
control and the people working under me are doing what they need to do and that they
are happy and satisfied with what they are doing.
 How can others help me accomplish these objectives?
My tutors in Business and the Centre of Excellence can certainly help me in reaching my
objectives because they are the ones who teach me about business and the business
environment and they advise me on what to do and how to do it. They also advise me
on how to behave and conduct myself in the workplace which will definitley help me in
the future. Another thing that will help me accomplish my objectives is the work
experience I will be attending at windhill commmunity centre from November 2018 to
June 2019, I will experience working in a business environemnt over there which will
help me out in the future, the experience will be very valuable for me.

Development Area: Maths

The plan is to address my maths by attending all lessons in Sept 2018 June 2019
college time and then after that I will take time out on
weekends and do 2-3 hours of revision on topics that I find
difficult, Maths is a mandatiry qualification for most jobs so it
is importnat that i pass it soon.

Development Area: IT Skills

The plan for my IT skills to improve is that I need to seek help Sept 2018 June 2019
of people that are well clued in IT and get advice and
education off them and in my spare time I would try hard and
learn some things for myself and IT is a skill that most
business require so it is vital that I improve on it.

 The plan to improve on my listening skills is to pay extra Sept 2018 June 2019
attention in class, sometimes I daydream when the tutor is
talking which can’t happen and listening is very imprtant as
you need to know whats going on so you know what to do.
