How should we Pray?

2/26/16
I came across this image which you will see within this document, and I wanted to put more
emphasis on it for the group. First I’d like to show you how I go about praying. How I feel we
should all go about praying. But upon my research I have found that there are many ways we can
pray to the Most High.

I always start with what Yashaya taught us in (Mathew 6) but even before then I call on our
higher power using our ancient Hebrew tongue. Why do this? So that we can allow our God,
(Exodus 3:14) “Ahayah Asher Ahayah” to know that we are trying to connect with him and
only him, When you use other names, those are the Gods you are connecting with.

So I go “Ahayah Asher Ahayah, Ba Hashem (In the name) Yashaya (My Savior) Wa
Qadash Rawach(And Holy Spirit)” I say this about 3 times then go into (Matthew 6:9-13)

A. Matthew 6:9-13 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in
heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as
it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we
forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For
thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Ahman(So Be It).

When praying, Women must Pray with their heads covered, as Men are to Pray with their heads
uncovered (1 Corinthians 11:1-16).

Praying is one of the most important aspects of our relationship with the Most High. We must
always Praise the Most High, Seek the Most High, Worship the Most High, and always Thank
the Most High. (Hebrews 13:15) (Hebrews 11:6) (1 Corinthians 14:25) (2 Timothy 1:3) What
else really matters when we were Created by HIM, Chosen by HIM, and Given Laws, Statutes
and Commandments by HIM. (Genesis 1:27) (Deuteronomy 7:6) (Exodus 18:20).

Yes we live in this world, yes we are in captivity, but this is all the more reason to practice and
worship him, we are here because of the transgressions of our forefathers (Jeremiah 11:10).
Like the rich inherit the wealth of their forefathers, we inherited the curses of ours, from the sins
they committed against the Most High. The only way to break this cycle is turning back to the
Most High, through Prayer, Repentance and Following his Laws, Statutes and Commandments.
(Psalms 4:1) (Revelations 19-22) (Exodus 23:21-22). We must do this consistently, this way
the Most High will know that we are committed to following his ways, and not the ways of this
world. This will give us Peace, and Protection from our Enemies (Psalms 4:8) (Psalm 121), no
matter what they try and do to us. Prayer is our number 1 defense along with keeping HIS Law,
Statutes and Commandments.

How do we go about praying? Well first after we know how to initiate prayer, we must know
what direction we must pray in. Throughout scripture you will see that when we were not in our
homeland, our forefathers prayed towards the east. We must pray towards where the Most High
is. He is over the land of what we call now Israel. We were removed from his sight for our
disobedience (2 Kings 23:27). So during our father’s captivities, when they were in need of help,
they prayed to the Most High towards the East. We must do this as well.

A. 1 Kings 8:38-40 What prayer and supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy
people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth
his hands toward this house: 39 Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive,
and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for
thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;) 40 That they may fear
thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
a. So even though we are in the lands that our forefathers may have not known, we
still must pray towards the east facing the Father Ahayah.

B. Psalm 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy
lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy
name.
C. Psalm 5:7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy:
and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
a. Praying towards the Temple, is praying towards the Most High, which is in the
East.
D. 2 Chronicles 6:21 Hearken therefore unto the supplications of thy servant, and of
thy people Israel, which they shall make toward this place: hear thou from thy
dwelling place, even from heaven; and when thou hearest, forgive.

Now how often should we pray? How many times a day should we pray? It is shown through
scripture that we must pray 3 times a day; upon Sunrise, at Midday, and at Sunset.

A. Psalm 55:16-17 As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.
17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear
my voice.
B. Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his
house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled
upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he
did aforetime.
a. I would suggest that when we pray now, we shall also have our windows open in
the room that we pray in. I just learned this today. All praises to the Most High.

Now when we are praying, there are many different ways we can pray far as position wise;
Sitting, Standing, Walking, Bowing, With Hands Up, Kneeling and laying flat on our stomachs.
However you feel at that moment when, these are the 7 ways you can go about praying to the
Most High.

1. Sitting – “Sitting before the Most High”

A. 1 Chronicles 17:16-27 And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said,
Who am I, O LORDGod, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
17 And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of

thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the
estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God. 18 What can David speak more to thee
for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant. 19 O LORD, for thy
servant's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in
making known all these great things. 20 O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is
there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 21 And
what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be
his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out
nations from before thy people whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt? 22 For thy
people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou,LORD, becamest
their God. 23 Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy
servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.

24 Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying,
The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of
David thy servant be established before thee. 25 For thou, O my God, hast told thy
servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart
to pray before thee. 26 And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness
unto thy servant: 27 Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant,
that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed
for ever.

2. Standing – “Stand up and Bless the Most High”

A. Nehemiah 9:5 Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah,
Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God for
ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing
and praise.
B. Mark 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that
your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
C. Luke 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes
unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

3. Walking - “Walk to and fro”

A. 2 Kings 4:35 Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up,
and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child
opened his eyes.

4. Bowing – “Bowed”

A. Exodus 34:8 And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and
worshipped.
B. Nehemiah 8:6 And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people
answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and
worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
C. Psalm 72:11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

5. With Hands Up – “Spread Forth Your Hands”

A. 2 Chronicles 6:12-13 And he stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all
the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands: 13 For Solomon had made a
brasen scaffold of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and
had set it in the midst of the court: and upon it he stood, and kneeled down upon his
knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven.
B. Psalm 63:4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
C. 1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands,
without wrath and doubting.

6. Kneeling – “Fall upon Your Knees”

A. 1 Kings 8:54 And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this
prayer and supplication unto the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD,
from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.
B. Ezra 9:5 And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent
my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto
the LORD my God,
C. Luke 22:41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled
down, and prayed,
D. Acts 9:40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning
him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw
Peter, she sat up.

7. Laying Down – “Fall upon the Earth”

A. Joshua 7:6 And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the
ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their
heads.
B. Ezra 10:1 Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and
casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel
a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very
sore.
C. Matthew 26:39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying,
O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but
as thou wilt.
D. Mark 14:35 And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it
were possible, the hour might pass from him.

I hope this gives you a good template/guideline for you to be able to begin getting closer to our
God Ahayah.
Shalawam,
Brother Davis
