A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 7 ENGLISH

I. OBJECTIVES:

A. Content Standards:
The learner demonstrates understanding off: contemporary Philippine literature
as a means of responding to the demands of the global village; various extended text
types; lexical and contextual cues; appropriate and polite oral language, stance, and
behavior; and use of imperatives, prepositions, verbs, and wh -questions.

B. Performance Standards:
The learner transfer learning by: explaining the need to be cooperative and
responsible in today’s global village; using appropriate strategies to comprehend
extended text types; using lexical and contextual clues to understand unfamiliar words
and expressions; using imperatives, prepositions, and appropriate and polite oral
language, stance and behavior in various information-sharing formats.

C. Learning Competencies:

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. Formulate who, what, when, where, why, and how questions

2. Formulate short replies. (EN7G-IV-i-6.1)
3. Compose simple informative texts (EN7WC-IV-a-2.2)

B. ESTABLISHING A PURPOSE
FOR THE LESSON

Today we will be proceeding to our new


topic but before that we will have first an
activity. This activity will be entitled “know
your seatmate more”, in this activity your
partner will be your seatmate of course. .
What you are going to do is to know your
seatmate’s personal information like;
his/her name, birthday, address, age, how
many siblings he/she had, and some of  Yes Ma’am/Sir!
his/her favorites (favorite, food…) I will be
giving you 3 minutes to do that, and after,
3 of your classmates will share their
collected information from their respective
partners. Clear?

Formulating WH-Questions.

WH-Questions are also known as


Question words. How are they formed? Let
us have these following examples.
 Who is your partner?
 What is that?
 When is your birthday?
 Where do you live?
 Why are you here?
 How is your day?

The WH-Questions are;

 WH-Questions are formed by

WHAT, group 3 will be the group WHEN,
group 4 will be the group WHERE, group 5
will be the group WHY and the last group,
group 6 will be the group HOW. Clear?  Yes Ma’am/Sir!

AND ABSTRACTIONS ABOUT
THE LESSON

What are the six WH-Questions class?  WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY
and HOW Ma’am/Sir!
When do we use the question word who?  Who is used when we are referring to
What? Where? When? Why? And how? a person; what for object, idea or
action; where for place; when for day,
date or time; why for reason; and how
for manner.

clarifying something especially those

Using the collected information of your


seatmate a while ago, compose a short
informative text combining all the
information that you’ve collected from your
seatmate and write it in a 1 whole sheet of
paper. 5 is enough, start writing now!
V. Assignment

Interview someone in authority or someone older than you (e.g. teacher,


barangay official) formulate the questions that you are going to ask to your interviewee.
The questions must start from simple to complex (from who to how), the questions
should lead your interviewee(s) to share the things that they did in the past and they
don’t do now and the things they usually do before up until now. Jot down all their
answers to the questions. Share to the class the WH-questions you used or formulated
and the answers of the people you interviewed.
