Methods and Procedures

This chapter presents the research method, research site, sampling method, research

instrument, data gathering procedures and procedures for analyzing data.

Research Method

This study focuses on the effects of Gaisano mall on small businesses as perceived by

small store (Sari- sari) owners will utilize descriptive method. It is because it requires the use of

specific form of data collection. It will investigate the effects of Gaisano mall on small

businesses as perceived by small store (sari- sari) owners.

Research Site

This study will be conducted at Barangay 5 to Yolys, Fortich Street, Malaybalay City,

Bukidnon, where the target respondents resides.

Sampling Method

All the sari-sari store owners along Barangay 5 to Yolys, Fortich Street, will be our

respondents in this study. It is due to the lack in number of sari-sari stores in Barangay 5, to

Yolys, Fortich Street, so we decided that all the 20 sari-sari stores that we saw will be included.

Research Instrument

The researcher will use a rating scale. The rating scale is composed of six column, the

first column is composed of the different factors of Gaisano mall that affects the sari-sari stores.

The second part is composed of 5 columns which are labeled as Completely agree, Agree,

Slightly agree, Disagree, and Completely disagree. The participants will put a check mark on the

table which corresponds to their answer.

Data Gathering Procedures

The researchers will write a letter to the Barangay Chairman of Barangay 5 and will be

noted by the research adviser and the principal of San Isidro College asking permission to

conduct a research. Upon approval, the researchers will go to Barangay 5 to Yolys, Fortich

Street, to personally distribute the questionnaires to 20 store owners and wait until they are done

answering it to ensure maximum retrieval.

Statistical Treatment

The data that will be collected will be utilize to answer problem one and two. The study

will analyze the gathered data through the use of descriptive statistics specifically the mean and

the standard deviation. Through getting the mean, the extent of the effects of Gaisano mall to the

sari- sari store businesses will be interpreted.
