2019 SPECIAL MEDICAL INTAKE ENLISTMENT INTO THE


GHANA ARMED FORCES MEDICAL CORPS

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

1. Eligible applicant should:

a. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.


b. Be of good character.
c. Not less than 18 years and not more than 40 years for Medical Specialists, 35 years for
Medical/Dental Officers, 33 years for Nurses and 30 years for Paramedical personnel by 10 January
2019, or as otherwise specified.
d. Be medically fit by the Ghana Armed Forces standards.
e. Be not bonded.
f. Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5` 6``) for males and 1.57m (5` 2``) for females.
g. Must have the following:

(1) BECE. Six (6) credits at BECE including English and Mathematics.

(2) Six credits. (Not less than C6) including Core English and Core Mathematics at
WASSCE.
Or

(3) Six credits. (Not less than D) including Core English and Core Mathematics at
SSSCE.
Or
(4) Five credits. (Not less than 6) including English and Mathematicsat GCE ‘O’
Level and not less than D in three subjects at GCE‘A’ Level.

SPECIFIC & PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS


1. Medical Specialist. Applicant must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from an accredited
institution plus a relevant post-graduate qualification to the level of Membership/Fellowship
(GCPS/WACS/WACP) or its equivalent from an accredited College. Dental Specialists of the following
categories: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Periodontist, Dental Restorative Specialist, Oral and
Maxillofacial Pathologist, Oral Medicine Specialist, Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist, and Prosthodontist
are eligible.Must have a permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council and not more
than 40 years of age by 10 January 2019.

2. Medical Officer and Dental Surgeon. Applicant must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from
an accredited institution. Must have a permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council.
At least, one (1) year working experience in a recognized health facility and not more than 35 years of age
by 10 January 2019.

3. Veterinary Officer. Applicants must have Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or its equivalent
from an accredited institution. At least, one (1) year working experience as a Veterinary Officer in an
accredited health institution. Must be registered with the Veterinary Council of Ghana and not more than 35
years of age by 10 January 2019.

4. Clinical Psychologist. Applicants must have an Msc/MPil in Clinical Psychology from an


accredited institution plus one (1) year internship in Clinical practice with at least one year working
experience in a recognized health facility. He/she must be fully registered with the Ghana Clinical
Psychological Council (GPC) and must be 33 years of age by 10 January 2019.

5. General Nurse. Applicants with BSc/BA degree in Nursing from an accredited institution of
higher learning who have completed the mandatory clinical rotation or national service and practiced for at
least three (3) years are eligible to apply. Applicants with BSc/BA degree in Nursing with RGN basic
Diploma who have practiced for at least two (2) years are eligible. All must be registered with the Nursing
& Midwifery Council of Ghana and not more than 33 years of age by 10 January 2019.

6. Nursing Tutor. Applicant must have MPhil in Nursing/Midwifery or MSc/MA in


Nursing/Midwifery with a postgraduate certificate in Education. Must be registered with the Nursing &
Midwifery Council of Ghana. At least, one (1) year teaching experience in an accredited
Nursing/Midwifery institution is required and not more than 35 years of age by 10 January 2019.

7. Specialized Nurses. Applicants must be a Registered General Nurse and must have a certificate
in any of the following specialties: Critical Care, ENT, Peri-operative, Emergency Care, Plastics & Burns,
Paediatrics and Ophthalmic Nursing. At least two (2) years working experience in a recognized health
facility is required. Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana and not more than
33 years of age by 10 January 2019.

8. Midwifery Officer. Applicants with BSc degree in Midwifery from an accredited institution
who have completed the mandatory clinical rotation and have practiced for at least Three (3) years are
eligible to apply. Applicants with Registered Midwifery (RM) certificate plus additional BSc degree in
Midwifery from an accredited institution who have practiced for at least two (2) years could apply. All
must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana and not more than 33 years of age by
10 January 2019.

9. Biomedical Scientist. Applicant must have a BSc degree in Medical Laboratory Science from an
accredited institution. At least, two (2) years working experience as a Biomedical Scientist in a reputable
medical laboratory facility is required. Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council and
not more than 30 years of age by 10 January 2019.

10. Pharmacist. Applicant must have a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (BPharm) from an accredited
institution. At least, two (2) years working experience as a Pharmacist in an accredited health facility.
Must be registered with the Pharmacy Council and the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana and not more than
33 years of age by 10 January 2019.

11. Radiographer. Applicant must have a BSc degree in Radiology or its equivalent plus One (1) year
post-qualification internship. At least, two (2) years working experience as a Radiographer in an accredited
health facility is required. Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council and not more than
33 years of age by 10 January 2019.

12. Physiotherapist. Applicant must have a BSc degree in Physiotherapy or its equivalent plus one
(1) year mandatory internship or national service. At least, two (2) years working experience as a
Physiotherapist in a recognized health facility. Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions
Council and not more than 30 years of age by 10 January 2019.

13. Health Services Administrator. Applicant must have a BSc degree in Administration (Health
Services option) from an accredited institution and must have completed the mandatory national service. At
least Two (2) years working experience as a Health Services Administrator in a recognized health facility.
Must be registered with the Association of Health Services Administrators of Ghana (AHSAG) and not
more than 30 years of age by 10 January 2019.

14. Biomedical Engineer. Applicants must have a BSc degree in Biomedical Engineering with good
knowledge in Information Technology and Computer Science and must have completed the mandatory
national service and registered with the Allied Health Professions Council. At least, two (2) years working
experience in an accredited health facility is required and not more than 30 years of age by 10 January 2019.

15. Audiologist. Applicant must have an MSc degree in Audiology or its equivalent. At least one (1)
year working experience as an audiologist. Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council
and not more than 33 years of age by 10 January 2019.

16. Public Health Officer. Applicants must have a BSc degree in Public Health (Environmental
Health or Disease Control Option) from an accredited institution plus one year post-qualification internship.
Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council and not more than 33 years of age by 10
January 2019.

17. Physician Assistant (Medical). Applicants must have BSc degree in Physician Assistantship
or its equivalent from an accredited institution with at least one (1) year working experience in an accredited
health facility. Must have a permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council and not
more than 33 years of age by 10 January 2019.

18. Certified Registered Anaesthetists. Applicants must have BSc degree in Anaesthesia from an
accredited institution with at least two (2) years working experience in an accredited health facility. Must
have a permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council and not more than 33 years of
age by 10 January 2019.

HOW TO APPLY

1. Acquire a scratch card at FIFTY GHANA CEDIS (GH₵50.00) from the designated post offices
below:
a. Greater Accra. Burma Camp,Accra North, GPO, Cantonments, Dansoman, Legon,
Madina, TUC, Kaneshie, Ministries, Mamprobi, New Achimota, Tema Community 1,Tema
Community 11.

b. Central Region. Cape Coast, Agona Swedru, Saltpond, Dunkwa-On-Offin, Winneba,


Elmina, Apam.

c. Northern Region. Tamale, Education Ridge, Yendi, Walewale, Damongo.

d. Upper West Region. Wa, Lawra, Tumu.

e. Upper East Region. Bawku, Navrongo, Bolgatanga.

f. Ashanti Region. Kumasi Main, KNUST, Ashanti-Mampong, Bekwai-Ashanti,


Konongo, Obuasi, Offinso, Ejura, Juaso, Akrokerri, Ejisu, Agogo.

g. Brong - Ahafo Region. Sunyani, Berekum, Techiman, Bechem, Atebubu, Kintampo,


Dormaa Ahenkro, Duayaw-Nkwanta.

h. Eastern Region. Koforidua, Nkawkaw, Mpraeso, Suhum, Akim Oda, Aburi,


Asamankese, Akropong-Akuapem, Somanya, Akosombo, Nsawam.

i. Western Region. Takoradi, Sekondi, Tarkwa, Enchi, Sefwi-Wiawso, Axim.

j. Volta Region. Ho, Keta, Hohoe, Kpando, Denu, Peki, Sogakope, Jasikan, Kadjebi.

2. Scratch gently to reveal the pin code. The scratch card can be used for three times until a record is
successfully submitted.

3. Log on to the recruitment portal @ http://www.gafrecruitment.com with any of the following


browsers:
a. Mozilla Firefox.
b. Google Chrome.

4. Read through the entry requirements thoroughly.

5.Ensure your mobile phone’s Cell Broadcast Message Service is turned “ON”. This can be done by going
through the following steps on your phone;

a. Messages.

b. Message Settings.

c. Find “Cell Broadcast/Broadcast Message/CBActivation/Advertisement” depending on your


brand of mobile phone.

d. Set activation “ON”.

e. Set all channels to “receive”.

6. Click on the Apply Now Tab to open the applicant authentication page.

7. Enter your card serial number, pin code and select your preferred arm of service, type of
commission and click submit.

8. Enter your personal details and take note of the following from pages 1 to 3:

a. Page 1. Select your desired vacancy and provide all other required data.

b. Page 2. Upload a scanned copy of your passport sized photograph of dimension (170
x 150 pixels), enter a valid e-mail address, personal mobile phone number in the format
(233244123456) and enter any other required data.

c. Page 3. Enter the results of only the TWO required core subjects on your
WASSCE/SSCE Certificate, that is; CORE MATHEMATICS AND CORE ENGLISH. Enter
your WASSCE or SSCE Index number, WASSCE or SSCE results slip serial number. Upload
only scanned copies of the following; WASSCE or SSCE Certificate and Degree Certificate
(Degree). NB: Each scanned document (Passport picture, WASSCE or SSCE Certificate, Degree
Certificate) to be uploaded, should not exceed 1(One) Megabyte and should be in JPEG picture
format only.

9. Click on the Preview Button to see a summary page of all data provided. Read through this page
carefully and click on the back button, if there are any modifications to be made.

10. Click on the submit button and expect an instant e-mail and text message, which includes your
unique system generated Identification Number.

11. Print and keep a copy of the generated report as you will be required to present it, if you are
Qualified. However, if you lose your copy of the final report, go back to the recruitment portal, click on the
Check Details Tab, enter your unique identification number sent to you by SMS/E-Mail and order a re-
print.

12. Closing Date. Closing date for submission of all online applications is 27 October 2018.
