GROUND RULES

Socio Cultural

This is a fair and healthy competition thus; camaraderie and sportsmanship


should be manifested in each year level. Complaints will be entertained only by the
chairman and the whole committee of socio-cultural events by means of a written letter
signed by the year level coordinator.

1. Each year level is required to participate in every competition of socio-cultural


events. Each year level must submit their music material the day before the
completion. Failure to submit music materials prior to the competition is
subject for disqualification.
2. All participants must be prepared and ready before the competition starts.
Deduction of 2 points will be given for those participants who failed to arrive
during the roll call.
3. Technical complaints with approved evidences, non-compliance to the overall
rules and rules of every competition will lead to disqualification and should
only be addressed to the socio-cultural committee.
4. Points for all competition are as follows:
i. Champion - 50

ii. 1 Runner Up - 40
iii. 2nd Runner Up - 30

iv. 3 Runner Up - 20
v. 4th Runner Up - 10
5. Ranking system will be applied for adjudication.
6. The decision of the judges is irrevocably final.

Guidelines and Criteria for Judging

GUIDELINES

1. The competition will be held on September 16, 2018 (8:30 AM) at the Digos City
Gymnasium.
2. Each participating team is entitled to enter only one (1) official group composed of
exactly 20-35 eligible performers, male and female (dancers) including props men.
Five points shall be deducted from the final score of each participating team for every
lack or excess of 1 student. (1 student = 5 points deduction)
3. All performers must consist both male and female and bonafide enrolled student of
the team they represent.
4. The entire duration of the performance must not be less than eight (8) minutes and
must not exceed to twelve (12) minutes, excluding two (2) minutes pre-setting and
one (1) minute exit/pack-up and clean up. Time will start at the first organized word,
movement or note of music by the team after they are officially announced and have
taken the floor. The routine must begin within the marked performance area. All
team members must come to a complete stand still before beginning their routine.
One (1) point shall be deducted from the final score of each participating team for
every 30 seconds excess of the allocated 12 minutes for the performance (1-30
seconds = 1-point deduction; 31-60 seconds = another 1 point deduction).
5. Cheers/chants must be yelled by the dancers live (not pre-recorded). Chants may
also be used with music or during musical routine. No voice-overs or words may be
recorded to make the team vocal projection sound louder.
6. Routines may be accompanied by canned music and/or a band. A representative of
the team is responsible to play, pause and stop the music in appropriate times during
the routine.
7. Teams with performance music written on a CD must submit their CD to the Overall
Chairperson (Cheerdance Competition) on or before September 16, 2018. Failure to
do so, the team will get 5 points deduction in the final score. The CD’s must be clearly
labeled with the name of the team.
8. Routines must be appropriate for family viewing. Any vulgar or offensive and foul
words or music may result to disqualification. Uniforms must also be decent.
9. Pyrotechnics and other similar dangerous or hazardous props are strictly prohibited.
There is a limit of 2 hand-held “safe props” to be used by the performers (ex.
Pompoms, flaglets, placards, etc.) plus 1 banner.
10. Execution of partner stunts or all types of stunts with lifting, mounting, pyramids and
tosses (e.g.basket tosses) will result in automatic disqualification.
11. In the event of any injury, music and technical errors or any other unexpected event,
the head judge reserves the right to stop the routine. The team may perform their
routine from the beginning. However, judging and timing will resume from the point at
which interruption occurred as determined by the judges.

HIPHOP

MECAHNICS

1. A year level competition.


2. Each year level must have a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 15 participants.
3. A minimum music of 5 minutes and a maximum of 8 minutes. A deduction of 1
point in every exceeding minute.
4. Using of fireworks and any sharp/ dangerous objects that may harm the
participants is not allowed.
5. The decision of the judges is irrevocably final.

CRITERIA

Creativity - 20%

Choreography, synchronicity, floor pattern

Mastery - 40%

Performance - 30%

Stage presence, executions, and discipline

Costume and Props - 10%


DANCESPORT

1. A team shall have one (1) pair.

2. The maximum routine time is one (1) minute.

3. A pair shall dance the following Latin Dances: CHA-CHA-CHA, RUMBA and
JIVE

4. A pair shall have their own music for the individual; the committee shall provide
the music for the mass dance.

5. A pair shall wear a decent dancesport costume. Revealing too much skin is
prohibited.

6. Mass dance shall follow after the individual performance.

8. The special awards to be given are the following:

a. Best in Cha-Cha-Cha

b. Best in Rumba

c. Best in Jive

9. The decision of the board of judges is irrevocably final.

MTV

MECHANICS

1. Year level competition.


2. It can be solo, duet and group performance depending on the video as well as
the artist they impersonate.
3. It can be sing/dance performance.
4. A minimum music of 4 minutes and a maximum of 8 minutes. A deduction of 1
point in every exceeding minute.
5. All props are allowed except using of fireworks and any sharp/dangerous
objects that may harm the participants.
6. The decision of the judges is irrevocably final.

Lip synch skill, gesture

Synchronicity - 20%

SONG SOLO

MECHANICS

1. A year level competition


2. A performer can be a male or a female.
3. Music must be 3-6 minutes. 1 point will be deducted in every short/exceeding
minute.
4. Music materials should be submitted the day before the competition.
5. Accompaniment of any musical instrument in allowed.
6. A cappella is not allowed.
7. Indecent attire is not allowed.
8. The decision of the judges is irrevocably final.

MR. AND MS. INTRAMURALS

MECHANICS

A. Qualifications
a. Each year level must have a pair, male and female as representatives
for Mr. and Ms. Intramurals who:
i. Are bona fide students of Matti National High School.
ii. Are single and not more than 20 years old this year.
iii. Have not won any major title except for runners up.
iv. Are able to attend all scheduled activities or rehearsals.
B. Pageant Mechanics
a. Talent Portion
i. Performance must be within three and a half minutes (3:30mins)
only. Timer starts with the first sound, or action in the talent. A
bell will ring two times; 1 st – 15secs before the time and 2 nd –
end of the time duration. 1 point will be deducted in every 1min
excess of the performance.
ii. Representatives from each year level may perform as one pair.
iii. Entrance and exit will be given 1 min each.
iv. Fire, water, deadly weapons and other dangerous and other
explicitly offending objects are not allowed as props.
b. Production Wear
i. Creative denim with its corresponding top will be the motif of the
entire production number.
c. Sports Attire
i. All types of sportswear are allowed with the inclusion of
appropriate props intended for the respective sports.
d. Long Gown and Formal Attire
i. All types of long gown (female) and formal attire (male) are
allowed to be worn so long as they do not show malicious views
(showing contestants’ private parts).
e. Uniform
i. The official uniform of Matti National High School will be worn
during this portion.

Note: After the scores from all portions have been tabulated, all
contestants shall move on to the final round of the competition where
scores will be back to zero. A common question will be asked to all
finalists.
