Hi Mikko. In the page one Baker says that the added chromatic note make the scale come out
right. On the other pages there are lots of examples without this rule, so I do not understand the
point of the book....I think Bergonzi´s Jazz Lines is better in this approach. Lots of times I come
back to Bakers book to give it another try, but I does not make much sense to me (IMHO). What

I have the entire DB series. I was fortunate enough to be in his theory class during the Jamey
Aebersold clinic one year. David was SUCH a nice guy. Like Dizzy, he wanted jazz to be
accessible by ALL people. He literally wanted to teach EVERYONE!!!

David Baker has a nearly series of his Bebop books that were almost all lines and very little
explanation. I look at Baker's Bebop books as a simpler version of the Barry Harris' bebop line
approach, Barry can get into a lot of different added notes depending on starting note and
rhythm.
