Summary:
The School Based Health Educator will educate high school age students about behaviors that promote
wellness. Develop and implement strategies to improve the health of individuals and school community.
Requirements:
BA degree in social work, psychology, public health education or related field
1 to 2 years’ experience in health education and/or healthcare related field
Demonstrated familiarity counseling adolescents on reproductive health (experience preferred)
Excellent organizational & customer service skills, able to manage competing demands &
monitor multiple projects simultaneously
Must have excellent writing, editing, organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to develop a work-plan and timeline for program deliverables

BPN was established in 1987 to address the high and rising rate of infant deaths in Brooklyn’s
communities. BPN is unique in its ability to: Enroll people into health insurance through the NYS
Marketplace, Outreach to those hard to reach and most at risk, organize service providers through
coalitions, Facilitate care coordination and access to health resources, Coordinate client & community
advocacy and Keep elected and institutional policy makers informed.
BPN’s Mission is to improve the health and well-being of children, youth, parents, individuals (males and
females) and families through linkages to culturally appropriate services to optimize health, identifying
and developing needed resources and facilitating collaboration and partnerships to coordinate services and
affect public policy.
