Associated Learning Standard(s): The resource may be generally applicable, if so, simply state that. List any ISTE-S standards that
seem to naturally align with the selected resource.

1c. Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their learning in a
variety of ways.

6c. Students communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively by creating or using a variety of digital objects such as
visualizations, models or simulations.

6d. Students publish or present content that customizes the message and medium for their intended audiences.

7a. Students use digital tools to connect with learners from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, engaging with them in ways
that broaden mutual understanding and learning.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

JING is supposed to be a screencasting application for Windows and Mac. If you download the video file, you have one format
choice, Adobe Flash. This is a dying technology and will no longer be supported in any way by 2020. If they do not move forward
with a different output, it will not be a screencasting application for long.

JING can also do quick screen captures.

INTEGRATION/IMPLEMENTATION IDEA - SCREENCASTING

How might you use this resource to promote student learning? Describe who will be doing the screencasting – you or your
students, and what purpose it will serve.

I would love to have students do instructional videos on how to win Cool Math for Kids games. It would give them a chance to
hear their own voice and practice organizing their thoughts. (See notes on Flash)

The still capture made making instructions simple and QUICK! A teacher or student could use this to grab part of a page and give
more details by overlaying text and graphics. This would be so handy for presentations and instructions.

I gave it zero for screencasting because Adobe Flash will be dead, dead, not viewable in one year. It is already hard to find a way
to view it, because the browsers are blocking Flash.

I give it a three for screen capture of still images. This is in a .png format which is standard. The ablity to capture and edit on the
fly was the best I have ever seen.
