 PREFACIO

El Compendio Estadístico del Ingreso Bruto Agrícola para el año

fiscal 2011, contiene una serie histórica del comportamiento de la
actividad agrícola desde el 1990/91 al 2010/11.

Esta publicación agrupa los renglones principales que componen el

ingreso bruto agrícola: cantidad producida, precio promedio recibido por
el agricultor y el valor bruto en la finca. Tiene como propósito que el
usuario se familiarice con los cambios ocurridos en la agricultura durante
el transcurso del tiempo. Estos cambios van encaminados a las
necesidades del consumidor local y del mercado de exportación, el cual
está orientado al consumo de productos nutritivos y de calidad.

Agradecemos el esfuerzo y la colaboración de todo el personal de la

División de Estadísticas Agrícolas y al Agro. Abner Custodio del Servicio
Nacional de Estadísticas Agropecuarias (NASS) en la preparación de este
documento, así como a los agricultores, agroempresarios y a entidades
públicas y privadas que suministraron los datos utilizados en esta serie
estadística.

Estamos seguros que este compendio servirá de instrumento al

sector público y privado en sus estrategias económicas. También es un
instrumento útil para todos los estudiosos de la economía agrícola de
Puerto Rico.
