Unit: Creative Writing


Lesson: Plot Structure

Objective(s) 1. Students will be able to recognize and define all


pieces of a Plot Diagram

structure by creating and presenting a Plot Diagram
Materials Required - Computer (classroom computer and computer lab)
- Internet access
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Prezi
- Pens/pencils
- Blank scratch paper

be assigned a short story and will be asked to create
a presentation, identifying each piece of the plot
structure/diagram in their story.

a plot diagram and decide how they would like to
present their diagram to the class

5. Groups can use PowerPoint or Prezi to create


presentation (one per group) on their assigned
story – will utilize computer lab to accommodate to
all groups

Students are encouraged to apply their creativity when creating their plot diagrams
within their group. Students have freedom within PowerPoint or Prezi to get creative
and choose how they would like to present to their classmates.

Students uncomfortable with presenting will not be made to speak in front of class in
order to earn credit for the assignment; group participation is required, individually
addressing the class is not.
