Social Media: Benefits to Society

The popularity of social media increases more and more among US teens. In the Fall of

2017, 47% of US teens use Snapchat. In the Fall of 2017, 24% of US teens use Instagram. In the

Fall of 2017, 9% of US teens use Facebook. In the fall of 2017, 7% of US teens use Twitter. In

January 2015, 28 millions of people, ages 18-24 used Social media. In January 2015, 35 millions

of people, ages 25-34 used Social media. In January 2015, 29 millions of people, ages 35-44

used Social media. Social Networking Sites is Good because Social media sites help students

to do better at school, It help applicants to find jobs, and it allows for rapid communication

during crisis times.

Social media sites help students to do better at school. Social media allows students to

hone in on what you really care about and look for information for the work that they may need.

I think social networks help students to do their job or to study more easily for their assignments

or tasks that teachers give to them because using social networks will not be very difficult.

Twitter is “an online news and social networking site where people communicate in short

messages called tweets. You can send tweets or messages to anyone who follows you. Some

people also use Twitter to discover interesting people and companies online. Users can follow or

receive the tweets of these accounts for as long as they are interesting” (Gil). “Teachers can

create a classroom account all student can use to share their ideas and to receive questions and

feedbacks on what they are doing. Teachers can build a list of hashtags and accounts for projects

so it can be more easily to student to share.” (Gil). #ResearchEssay, #SimonLordoftheFlies, or

#FieldTrip are examples of hashtags a teacher might use. “Role Play” is an activity teachers can

use with the Twitter app. For Role Play, students will compose tweets in the voice of a character

they have created. Teachers can keep their lesson engaging for student by asking them to tweet

their ideas or quotes. Students learn from this activity because they can “explore realistic

situations by interacting with other people or their classmates” (Gil).

Write a story or poem.

Many writers and poets have experimented with Twitter’s 140-character format to bring new,

serialized works in small chunks to attention-divided audiences. Some educators may like the

idea of asking their students to apply their creative writing skills to a restrictive social media

outlet.

WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE ACTIVITY?

Write a story or poem

HOW MANY CHARACTERS IS A TWEET?

140 characters

WHAT IS A CHARACTER?

is the limit of letters that can be in a tweet

TO COMPLETE THE ASSIGNMENT, WHAT DOES THE STUDENT TWEET?

They can tweet the title of the assignment, maybe some words of the story or the poem

WHY WOULD THIS ASSIGNMENT BE HELPFUL TO STUDENTS?

They can be creative on their writing skills

WHY WOULD A TEACHER LIKE THE ASSIGNMENT?

Because student can learn how to create a story

Social media is good for society because it help applicants to find jobs. Social networks is

a good option for job seekers to search or interact with the job they are applying for and

to know what the salary is and how things work in that job and also to know what

information is needed and what experience or achievement are required to that job.

2. Social networks provide an easy way for job seeker of getting to know about employment

opportunities and trends in your field of interest job seekers can also use social network to look

or get an idea about the companies are they interesting, their values, their activities, how they

treat their customers and what are the feedback of customers and clients about them.

3. "I believe that the benefits provided by social networking sites like Facebook have made us

better as a society and as individuals, and that, as they continue to be adopted by more diverse

populations, we will see an increase in their utility." Anecdotal evidence of the results Positive

aspects of these technologies, such as the political activities organized through Facebook or the

works found through LinkedIn, is well known, but now a growing body of academic research on

social networking sites also supports this vision” (Ellison).

Social networks offered sites such as Facebook where the society of people in search of

employment can look for work and that the population the more time passes, the use of this new

technology increases to look for a job and the increase in its utility has good results through

social networks. networks that use or support them.

Social media allows for rapid communication during crisis times. Social networks are a

great option to communicate when something is really critical in your country or wherever you

During disasters, social networks can provide access to relevant and timely information that you

need to know at that critical time you may be going through. also social networks can be stable

during the disaster that is happening when emergency channels can be overwhelmed.

In 2017, a hurricane hit Texas that caused many disasters, destroyed the homes of many people

and some families lost their members due to the great force and magnitude of the wind brought

by the hurricane. People who needed help or were trapped used twitter and posted their addresses

so that the lifeguards could access where they were, while others spoke the address of a relative

or a friend who was in the same situation. also lifeguard use social media during the disaster of

the hurricane to alert the public where help is located and when they plan on reaching impacted

The title of this graph is “ The percent of U.S people who use social media by age. “ The

x-axis shows the year when that people start to use social media. The y-axis shows the percent of

people who use social media. Although the graph clearly shows The percent of people who use

social by age, it does not explain clearly how many people used social network before.

The graph only shows average of people . It does not show people who stopped using the social

network is perhaps the most significant information in the graph because they not use social

media anymore. The smallest value of social media by age shows that less than 20 percent used

the social network in 2006. The greatest value of social media by age shows that more than 80

percent of young people used 2012. The value from 2010 to 2012 increases as a result of the

more time went by, the more people started using the social network, may increase as a result of

the more technology advances they are eager to use it. The value from 2008 to 2006 decreases as

a result of they did not use much social network because it was not very advanced, may decrease

as a result of they didn’t like social media. There are more people in 2012 than 2006 in percent

of people who was using social media . This means that the percent increase about 60%. There

are less people in 2008 than 2010 in percent . This means the percentage increased a bit. The

information in the graph demonstrates that increase that the percentage of people between 18-29

years of age increased a lot. People might be surprised to see that that many people over 40

continue to increase on the use of social networks.

In conclusion, social media is, and will continue to be helpful to the society. The power it

has over people is great and often goes notice to all people that need it in each type of situation.

also Social media is a really convenient and important communicate network for all the people

nowadays. It can help students to find resources or ideas on projects or assignments that they do

and to job seekers to see companies or jobs that need workers. social media have a big impact to

benefits of our society.
