available to each teacher. The computer lab is available for class sign out, one

• A variety of assessment methods are used to evaluate student learning so students


can demonstrate competencies.

• No formal process is written for evaluating the mission and philosophy


statements.

• Students and staff need more access to current technology such as SMART boards
and one-to-one learning.

• Differentiated instruction is implemented in every classroom. The challenge is to


continue professional development in this area and to provide time for staff to
plan and create lessons to be used on a daily basis

• A new school wide discipline program (Discipline with Purpose) was


implemented the fall, 2010. The challenge will be consistency across all grades
and subject areas including recess and the lunchroom and time to meet with all
staff to discuss strengths and improvements needed.

• SHCS needs a plan to offer gifted students more challenges and remedial students
more support.

• SHCS needs to be continually update curriculum mapping, especially integrating


technology in all subject areas and finish adding standards to all maps. Providing
teacher time is the challenge.
• Time is needed to discuss curriculum cope and sequence with grade level teams
and subject areas to align curriculum.

• Funds to provide technology training to staff to meet their individual needs to


include using equipment and integration into subject areas.

• Due to changes in special education, discussion needs to occur in regards to


responsive interventions to use with individual students and tracking information.
Para professionals also need training to provide support to teachers.

• More time should be spent analyzing and using the information attained from the
NWEA MAP test results to strengthen learner performance. We have begun our
2nd year of testing, so we can focus on data vs. implementation.

• A consistent standardized testing program needs to be maintained.

• Additional training is needed to help the staff coordinate curriculum and


assessment across grade levels.

• Provide support for students in middle school math and English to meet the needs
of all learners

• Lack of space due to increasing enrollment and parish activities creates


scheduling difficulties.

• Access to certain parts of our school facilities is extremely limited to those with
mobility issues.

• A small percentage of families do not have access or use the Internet regularly to
receive school information.

• Administration office and staff needs to prioritize keeping our webpage


information current.

• SHCS would like to get more parents involved in the Home and School
Committee.

• We need to formalize marketing activities into a strategic long-range marketing


plan.

• There is a need to create an orientation program for transfer students in the middle
school.

• Hire a development director to help with publicity, marketing the school, and
involving alumni.
• All staff development is difficult due to the varying levels of experience to benefit
entire staff, especially in the area of technology.

• The school needs to develop a new plan to support an updated salary structure for
the teaching staff comparable to other Catholic schools of similar size. The
school no longer uses the traditional teacher salary scale.

• The school needs to develop a plan for additional staffing and resources to help
with the varied needs (remedial and gifted) of our changing demographics.
