National Civil Engineering Summit (NCES) or should I say Educational tour for 4th year
civil engineering students. A 3 days tour in Manila, Laguna and Pampanga. Excited at first,
disappointed in the end.
At first day, our first arrival is at PHINMA properties in Manila, the L’Oasis
condominium. It was such a great place for a student who is currently taking civil taking civil
engineering, a construction sight which you can learn about how to build something huge
without taking any risk. The second arrival is at Mega mall to buy our own stuffs and to take our
brunch (breakfast and lunch) which made as quiet, exhausted and broke at the same time. At last
we arrived at Manila Grand Opera Hotel having a take-out dinner from Jolibee. The hotel has a
luxurious place and great ambience, it also has heater, an aircon and a pool that we enjoyed a lot.
Spending more time with friends that our scheduled sleep, passed.
At second day, having a bags under the eyes is such a stressful thing, you don’t look in
camera at all. Waking up early is not my thing but having a buffet early in the morning starting at
7am, who’s not ready for it? After having a delicious breakfast, the president of our department
told us to be prepared at 8am, the departure from hotel going to Ayala Land. Avida, Avi means
celebrate and vida means life. Celebrate life for Nuvali, Ayala Land’s fastest growing
development to date. Nuvali has 2,290 hectares twice the size of Makati. It has a peaceful and
safe surroundings that all people want to come. Union Galvasteel taught us how to make
galvanized steel. There is a two tests to know how strong it is. After knowing how to make
galvanized steel is the departure from Union Galvasteel to BGC Venice Grand Hotel. BGC
Venice Grand Canal, a paradise indeed. No matter how beautiful it is, the prices there is
unaffordable yet its a day well spent.
At third day, we expected that our last day will be the most precious and memorable day
but it was just an expectation nothing more, nothingless. Our supposed to be itinerary for our
third day are National Museum of the Philippines (Anthropology), SM Fairview, La Mesa Dam,
and SM Pampanga but out of 4 places, there are only two we stroll in, the Museum and SM
Pampanga. One hour for Museum and another one hour for SM Pampanga, we just spend more
time in bus than go outside and stroll but above all else, the museum is great and have a many
ancient things. It taught me how worthy the things are. In SM Pampanga, we just shop as our all
money went to zero.
Out three days educational tour has the most exciting, most disappointing and happiest of
my 19 years of existence.
