“It does not matter if one does not have any spiritual observations even
when pledged in a Sufi order for two, ten or more years, because this is not
spiritual progress. Spiritual progress is how absorbed you are in your
spiritual mentor and how much change has occurred in your thinking
pattern.”
Hazrat Syedna Shah Ameer Abul
Aala RA became orphan at a young
age. His paternal grandfather took
on the responsibility of raising him.
While on a visit to Mecca and the
resting place of Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH), his
grandfather passed away. Before
going on this journey, his
grandfather handed over taking
care of him to his maternal
grandfather Khawaja Muhammad
Faiz RA, who was a courtier of
Raja Man Singh. Under the
supervision of Khawaja
Muhammad Faiz RA, he was
educated and trained and also
excelled in army training.
While on a mission, Khawaja
Muhammad Faiz RA was martyred.
He did not have any sons, so
keeping in mind the capabilities of
Hazrat Syedna Shah Ameer Abul
RA, Raja Man Singh appointed
him as his courtier.
In those days, Hazrat Syedna
Shah Ameer Abul Aala RA had a
dream in which he saw three
spiritual people who asked him,
“What way of living have you
chosen? The right behaviour is the
way that we live. Adopt our ways
and if you are worried about
income then remember God has
said, ‘God is the light of the
heavens and the earth.’”
One of them then shaved Hazrat
Syedna Shah Ameer Abul Aala’s
RA head with a razor. Another put
a robe on him, and the third put a
turban on his head and gave him
shoes to wear.
After the dream, Hazrat Syedna
Shah Ameer Abul Aala’s RA heart
became restless. He wanted to quit
his job but Raja Man Singh did not
permit it.

He saw a dream once again. This
time he had the honour of being
visited by four saintly people. He
had already seen three of them in
the previous dream but the fourth
had a body of divine light and his
face was brighter than the sun and
moon. He said, “O’ my beloved
son! The light of my eye, the
shining star – adopt the path of
your ancestors.”

Aala RA said, “In the first dream I
was not conscious of who they
were, but in the second dream I

was fortunate enough to be
introduced to them.”
Without a doubt, the noble
person who was brighter than the
sun and moon was Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) and the other
three eminent people were Ameerul
Momyneen (the Leader of the
Believers) Hazrat Ali RA, Hazrat
Imam Hasan RA and Hazrat Imam
Hussain RA. Hazrat Syedna Shah
Ameer Abul Aala RA was more
confused after his dream and his
heart became detached from the
world. When God decides
anything, then the means and route
are also created for the plan to take
place. His situation changed in
such a way that he was discharged
from his job and became focused
on the search for God.

Hazrat Ali RA during meditation,
who said, “O’ son! You will be
guided by Khawaja Moinuddin
Chisti RA. Stand up! Go to Ajmer
and do not delay.”
As soon as he received this order,
he left for Ajmer. In Ajmer, he
stayed at the shrine of Sultan-ul-
Hind Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti
RA. The blessings from Khawaja
Moinuddin Chisti RA started
showering on him.
The family of Hazrat Syedna
Shah Ameer Abul Aala RA gave
one rupee and a shawl as charity
when his son Meer Noorul Aala
RA, recovered from illness. Hazrat
Syedna Shah Ameer Abul Aala RA
was not informed of this. One day
while his attention was towards the
shrine of Khawaja Moinuddin
Chisti RA, he heard a voice,
“Prayers have been made
requesting that your son’s health be
restored; food was distributed to
people in need and your family has
requested for a second son.” The
prayers were accepted and God
approved the request.

One day, the soul of Sultan-ul-
Hind Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin
Chisti RA appeared and gave him
something that was red and about
the size of a bead. After eating it,
his heart enlightened. Hazrat
Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti RA told
him, “The blessing that you have
been gifted with is given to one
or more years.” Hazrat Syedna
Shah Ameer Abul Aala RA
requested that he pledge allegiance
(bait) to Khawaja Moinuddin
Chisti RA. Khawaja Moinuddin
Chisti RA instructed him to pledge
to his uncle, Ameer Abdullah RA.

A mad elephant used to cause
trouble for people. One day, Hazrat
Abul Aala RA heard a ruckus when
travelling from the mosque to a
khanqah (spiritual school). He
asked, “What is the commotion
about?” His followers replied, “A
mad elephant is coming this way
and we must do something to be
safe from him.” He said, “I am
going on my way; he should go on

his way.” The elephant came in
front of him. He looked at the
elephant and it stopped and he
walked past it. After a couple of
days, the elephant came to the door
of the khanqah. Hazrat Abul Aala
RA went to him and said, “It is not
good to cause distress to others. It
is better if you go to the Raj Ghat
(big pool) and help people.” The
elephant went to the Raj Ghat and
began to help people and later
became famous as the ‘Elephant of
Meer Sahib RA’.

other species. It has been written in
the book ‘Qalandar Conscious’:
“Nature and jibbalat are two
different things. In jibbalat, our
conscious works the same way as
that of other species. Whereas in
Nature, we have a separate status.
This status is given to us by
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who
is superior to all species and
members of the universe. No one
with common sense can claim that
animals do not have any
intelligence. In some cases they are
more intelligent than us.
“The predefined meanings of
sound waves inform the listeners of
their meanings. It has been
observed that a mute person can
‘say’ everything with a little
movement of their lips and able
people can understand it all. This
method is similar to the first
process. Animals inform other
animals without any sound, using
each other even if they are
thousands of miles apart, not just
when they are nearby. The same
principle is also applicable in
stones. Communication occurs in
the same way in stones as it does in
sand particles. Cosmic waves are
present everywhere and at all
times. Time and spatial distances
are within its control.
“There is only one unconscious
there are many examples of its
proof from the lives of the Prophets
(PBUT) and their students, the
friends of God. Through this, every
wave, seen and Unseen,
understands the meaning of other
waves, even if they exist on two
edges of the universe. The wisdom
of the Unseen and the seen is the
jugular vein or life stream of the
universe. With contemplation and
attention on this jugular vein,
which is also our own jugular vein,
the state of our own planet and
other planets can be revealed. We

can find out about the imagination
in humans and animals, the
activities and movements of
Jinnaat and angels, and the inner
activities of plants and stones.
“After continuous contemplation,
the mind merges into the universal
unconscious and our transitory (or
short-term) body liberates itself
from its limitations. It can then
save all information it needs and
anything that sees it understands.”

Hazrat Ameer RA gifted his cap
to a person once and that person
went to war wearing it. He was
struck by an arrow in his cap, but
the head of the arrow became
crooked and fell off.
Hazrat Ameer RA was once
badly affected by a stroke. He had
great difficulty in doing ablution
and going to the toilet. One day he
read the following poem:
“My pain is from my Love and
He is its cure. My heart and life is a
sacrifice to Him.”
The impact of the poem was such
that a deep spiritual passion
dominated him and all of his
organs became relaxed with
warmth due to the opening of his
heart. Thanks to God, his health
returned.

said, “If a person feels as satisfied
in our spiritual gathering as a
wanderer in the desert feels when
they find the shade of a tree in very
hot weather, then he is welcome in
our company, otherwise he should
go elsewhere. There is no wonder
working at our place.”
If someone asked him about
finding God, he used to ask, “Do
you want to find him with hard
work or for nothing?” He wrote a
procedure to remember God and
gave it to people who preferred the
first method. For those who desired
the latter method he told them,

as if he is stationary in one place,
but realises when the boat reaches
the shore that they have reached
their destination.”

continues to say, “As far as
showing anything is concerned,
this can be done in a second.”

said, “The disciple who thinks that
all activities and movements are
from themselves and others, needs
to understand that all actions are
from God. They should think that
every action is from God, just like
the motion of a dead body is in the
hands of the person washing it. A
Sufi is not the one who practices
the remembrance of God in
isolation, but one who cares for
God’s creation, and understands
and recognises that everything is
from God.”

Ameer Noorul Aala RA said, “A
day before his passing, our
respected father (Hazrat Ameer
Abul Aala RA) called for me and
my younger brother Ameer Faizul
Aala RA. Scholars and religious
followers were in the gathering. He
asked me to sit facing the Kaaba
and said, ‘You are my blessed son.
Son, my time is near. My legacy to
you is,

‘There is none worthy of worship
except God and Muhammad
(PBUH) is His messenger.’
“After this, he recited some
verses from the holy Quran about
the Oneness of God. While he was
reciting it, I felt as if I was going
through all the stages as mentioned
in the Quranic verses. The veil of
the Self was lifted on the levels of
Ain ul Yaqeen and Haqq ul Yaqeen
as if I had dived into an infinite sea
and there was nothing there. There
was no beginning, no end; no one
has seen Him, nor understood Him
and He cannot be comprehended
by the mind.

“Hazrat Ameer Abul Aala RA
said, ‘My son, do remember your
dreams! The real thinking pattern is
to adopt the just attributes of God,
such as to be merciful and
compassionate.’”
“He said, ‘The personality and
qualities of Prophet Muhammad
are unique and
unmatchable.’ He explained the
ranks of the Prophets (PBUT), his
high status and honour, and recited
the following verse from the holy
Quran:
‘He was taught by one Mighty in
Power. Endued with Wisdom.’
(Quran, 53:5-6)
“I came to understand that the
knowledge of Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH) surrounds the entire
universe. He reached this verse:
‘And thou (standest) on an
exalted standard of character.’
(Quran, 68:4)
“Then I felt as if I was absorbed
in the exalted character of Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH).

 “My respected father, Hazrat
Ameer RA, recited the following
words of God:
‘We sent thee not, but as a Mercy
for all creatures.’ (Quran, 21:107)
“It appeared like I was in an
infinite sea of mercy that had no
shore. After this he gave me his
Khirka-e-Khilaft (a gown as a
symbol of handing over
successorship).”

On the night of his passing, his
son Hazrat Noorul Aala RA was
sleeping and dreamt that he saw his
kind father saying, “Baba (son), I
am here till the morning.”
Noorul Aala RA woke up. In the
early morning hours, Hazrat Ameer
Abul Aala RA offered Fajr (early
morning) prayers and became busy
with the remembrance of God. He
passed away in the month of Safar
in 1061 Hijri. He was 71 years of
age.
