Dear Sir;

Greetings! We are 5th year Mechanical Engineering Students from the Technological University of the
Philippines. We are currently working on our Thesis/Dissertation entitled “Design and Fabrication of Rice
Flatbed Dryer Powered by Combustible Biomass”. The said project study aims to empower the
development and mechanization of machineries for Rice Industry especially in the field of drying processes.
(see attached thesis proposal and papers for project details and objectives.)

In connection with our project study, we already asked for technical help and gathered information and
ideas from the Rice Engineering and Mechanization Division Head of PhilRice, Dr. Arnold Juliano. He
gave us ideas and suggest some modifications that improves our design. Enclosed is a photo of the working
drawing of the engine. Also, he suggested and lend a technical help to us by modifying and use one of their
unused drying bin. This is to innovate new machine from the unused drying bin.

In lieu of this, we would like to request your good office, on permitting us to conduct a Research and project
study collaborated with the Research Engineering and Mechanization Division in PhilRice. We also like to
request an approval from you, C/O Dr. Arnold Juliano to allow us to use and borrow the spare drying bin
for the testing and evaluation of our project study. Enclosed is a photo of the machine we intend to borrow.
As the leader of our group, we will ensure you a good connection and image of research collaboration
between our school and PhilRice.
