a note from the Office
Y5-5th Assembly – Friday, November 2 @ 8:45am
Vet Assembly - Friday, November 9, 2018, at 9:15am (see below)

Veteran’s Day Assembly - Knapp Academy Veterans Day Assembly will be on Friday, November
9, 2018, at 9:15 am, we would like to extend an invitation to all Veterans of our Knapp family to
be a part of our annual observance. If there is a Veteran in your family that is able to attend our
assembly, please complete the form that was sent home earlier this month and return it to the
school office by Friday, November 2nd or, email Miss Lehan directly - 7.mlehan@nhaschools.com.

Car Signs - We need parents to keep the specific YELLOW, BLUE, or WHITE signs in the dash so we
can get/read/take your child(ren) to the correct cars. In extreme conditions we will dismiss from
inside and we just cannot guess who you are and what students are with you. Cold and wet
weather means we need to remind you about your car signs. Not having a sign slows down the
entire process. Please call the office or email your homeroom teacher and we will produce and
other sign for your vehicles.

Holiday Shoppe – Best week of the year for our Christmas shoppers! Please help us out and be a
part of the holiday fun. Are you available to volunteer during the second week of December in
our Holiday Shoppe? Each year we transform the gym (Dec 10th through 14th) into an
opportunity for elementary students to do some shopping for their families. Our middle school
volunteers are wonderful, but we still need some adults to help with shopping, wrapping,
managing student money, and helping our little ones decide what to buy and what color
wrapping paper. Please consider spending a chunk of a day, days, or the whole week –
whatever you can do to help us out. Yes, we do need some male elves too. Dads are more
than welcome to come and help us out too. Click the link below for more details and to see the
sign up. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0f4bacaf23a0fe3-holiday2

Winter Weather - Making sure that this was not missed from last week – to repeat, please do not
gamble on the days getting sunny and warm when you are debating on coats and mitts in the
AM. On non-raining days we are outside if it is not raining – fresh air is too important! Knapp
uses the wind chill temperature to determine being out or inside. Any time the wind chill temps
are above zero, and dry, we spend our recesses outside. Contact the office 364-1100 and we
can help if you are struggling with coats, hats, mitts and boots. Knapp has an amazing base of
families who would be more than willing to support, supply, and donate to our students in need.

3:20 –3:40 Pick-Up At the end of the school day, our classes dismiss and we are on the curb by
3:20. Traffic moves through the lot and it is your decision whether you want to sit and wait pre-
dismissal or you want to use the drive-thru option and pick up at the curb. Whatever you choose
at the end of the day, the option needs to be timely. It is the expectation of Knapp parents to
be at approach/in the lot by the end of school because the lot is line-up free most days at
3:35pm. The flow of carpool area sometimes slows in rainy or snowy weather, but it is never an
option to be past 3:45 picking up your rider(s). Thank you for your support in making the needed
changes and respecting the time and efforts of the Knapp staff to dismiss our students.
