and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault,
through my fault,

We ask this
through Christ our Lord . . .

All: Amen

Commentator: Please be seated for the Liturgy of the Word.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

First Reading: Sirach 26: 1-4, 16-21

(Andrew): A reading from the book of Sirach.

(Pause for a short period of silence.)

Happy the husband of a really good wife;

the number of his life is doubled.
A perfect wife is the joy of her husband,
he will leave out the years of his life in peace.

A good wife is the best of portions,

8|Page
reserved for those who fear the Lord;
rich or poor, they will be glad of heart,
cheerful of face, whatever the season.

The grace of a wife will charm her husband,

her accomplishments will make him the stronger.

A silent wife is a gift from the Lord,

no price can be put on a well-trained character.

A modest wife is a boon twice over,

a chaste character cannot be weighted on scales.

Like the sun rising over the mountains of the Lord

is the beauty of a good wife in a well-kept house.

(Pause for a short period of silence.)

This is the word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 145: 8-9, 10 and 15, 17-18

(Judith): Let our response be: (to be sung)

“The Lord is compassionate to all His creatures.”

All: The Lord is compassionate to all His creatures.

Judith: He, Yahweh, is merciful, tenderhearted,

slow in anger, very loving,
and universally kind; Yahweh’s tenderness
embraces all His creatures.

All: The Lord is compassionate to all His creatures.

9|Page
Judith: Yahweh, all your creatures, thank you
and your faithful bless you.
Patiently all creatures look to you
to feed them throughout the year.

All: The Lord is compassionate to all His creatures.

Judith: Righteous in all that He does,

Yahweh acts only out of love,
standing close to all who invoke Him,
close to all who invoke Yahweh faithfully.

All: The Lord is compassionate to all His creatures.

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:8a

(Jillian): A reading from the first letter of Paul to the Corinthians.

(Pause for a short period of silence.)

Be ambitious for the higher gifts. And I am going to

show you a way that is better than any of them.
If I have all the eloquence of men or of angels, but
speak without love, I am simply a gong booming or a
cymbal clashing.

If I have the gift of prophecy, understanding all the

mysteries there are, and knowing everything and if I
have faith in all its fullness, to move mountains, but
without love, then I am nothing at all.

If I give away all that I possess, piece by piece, and if I

even let them take the body to burn it, but am without
love, it will do me no good whatever.
10 | P a g e
Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous; love
is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish;
it does not take offense, and is not resentful.

Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins but

delights in the truth; It is always ready to excuse, to
trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.

Love does not come to an end.

(Pause for a short period of silence.)

This is the word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

ALLELUIA (to be sung)

Commentator: God is love; let us love one another as he has

loved us.”
ALLELUIA (to be sung)

GOSPEL John 15: 9-12

Priest: The Lord be with you.

All: And with your Spirit.

Priest: A reading from the holy gospel according to John.

All: Glory to you, O Lord.

Priest: Jesus said to his disciples: “As the Father has loved
me, so I have loved you. Remain in my love.

11 | P a g e
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my
love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in His love.

I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you

and your joy be complete.

This is my commandment: love one another, as I have

loved you.”

This is the gospel of the Lord.

All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Commentator: Please be seated.

Homily:

RITE OF MARRIAGE

Commentator: Remain seated. The Bride and the Groom, please

stand for the Rite of Marriage. May I request the principal
sponsors to stand beside the couple.

Allocution

Priest: Dearly beloved Roger and Lita you have come today to
ask God to strengthen and seal your love with an
eternal bond before the Church. Christ blesses this love
abundantly. He has already consecrated you in
baptism and now he enriches and strengthens you by a
special sacrament so that you may assume the duties
of marriage in mutual and lasting fidelity. And so, in the
presence of the Church, I ask you to state your
intentions.

12 | P a g e
Priest: LITA, have you come here of your own free will to bind
yourself forever in the love and service of your beloved
husband?

LITA: Yes, Father.

Priest: ROGER, have you come here of your own free will to
bind yourself forever in the love and service of your
beloved wife?

ROGER: Yes, Father.

Priest: ROGER and LITA, are you both prepared to raise as

good Christians, the children whom God will entrust to
your love and care?

ROGER and LITA: Yes, Father.

Exchange of Consent

Priest: Roger and Lita, since it is your intention to enter into

marriage, join your right hands, and declare your
consent before God and his Church.

(Couple joins hands)

ROGER: Lita, I take you to be my wife. I promise to be true to

you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health.
I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.

LITA: Roger, I take you to be my husband. I promise to be

true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in
health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my
life.

Priest: Now, please say your marriage vow together.

13 | P a g e
ROGER and LITA: Grant us, O Lord, to be one heart and one
soul, from this day forward, for better, for worse,
for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health,
until death do us part.

Confirmation of Vows:

Priest: Roger and Lita, you have declared your consent before
the Church. May the Lord, in His goodness, strengthen
you with his blessings. And so I, by the authority of the
Church, calling on all those present here as witnesses,
confirm and bless the bond of marriage which you have
vowed. What God has joined, man must not divide. In
the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit.

All: Amen

(Priest sprinkles holy water to the groom and the bride.)

Commentator: The principal sponsors may now take their seats.

Blessing and Exchange of Rings

(Best Man/Maid of Honor to guide ring, coin and bible bearers to

the priest)

Priest: The unending circle of a ring symbolizes the eternal

quality of the love to which you are called by Christ.
Now you may seal your promises to each other by
giving and receiving the rings.

Let us pray. Lord, bless and consecrate Roger and Lita

in their love for each other. May these rings be symbols

14 | P a g e
of true faith in each other, and always remind them of
their love. Through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

(Priest sprinkles the rings with holy water.)

Priest: Now give these rings to each other.

ROGER: Lita, wear this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity. In

the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit.

LITA: Roger, wear this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Spirit.

Blessing and Exchange of Arrhae

Priest: Hold these coins in your hands as a sign that your

blessings will no longer be held separately, but
together.

ROGER: Lita, I give you these arrhae as a pledge of my

dedication to your welfare. In the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

LITA: And I accept them and use them in building a truly

Christian home. In the name of the Father, and of the
Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Presentation of the Bible:

15 | P a g e
Priest: Roger and Lita, accept this Living Word of God. May
His words be your light in your journey together.

(The priest hands over the Bible to Roger and Lita)

ROGER and LITA:

We accept this Bible with prayer that God will continue

to reign supreme unto us, and our children that we
will soon raise.

(Maid of Honor to guide ring bearer back to his place)

PRAYER OF THE COUPLE:

Almighty God, we now kneel before you grateful and

very happy that we finally seal our love with your
blessing, witnessed by beautiful people we do love. We
are amazed by how well you prepare the paths that
lead us to the same destination. May you remain in our
hearts till the day we die; and while living, may we
continue to live by your words. Stay with us so that we
will not let go of our commitment to be with each other
till death do us part. Guide us that we may give our
future children the loving example you have shown us.

Finally, we pray that as we grow old together, we may

always share with each other the gift of your love and
bear witness your presence in our marriage. We offer
this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ with the Holy
Spirit, one God forever and ever.

Commentator: All please stand for the prayers of the faithful.

May we request the principal sponsors to return to their seats.

for us the bread of life.

All: Blessed be God for ever.

Prayer over the Gifts

Priest: Lord, accept the gifts we offer you on this happy day. In
your fatherly love watch over and protect Roger and
Lita whom you have united in marriage. We ask this
through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

Preface:

Priest: The Lord be with you.

All: And also with you.

Priest: Lift up your hearts.

All: We lift them up to the Lord.

Priest: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All: It is right to give him thanks and praise.

20 | P a g e
Priest: Father, all-powerful and ever-living God, we do well
always and everywhere to give you thanks through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Through him you entered into a
new covenant with your people. You restored man to
grace in the saving mystery of redemption. You gave
him a share in the divine life through his union with
Christ. You made him an heir of Christ’s eternal glory.
This outpouring of love in the new covenant that seals
the love of husband and wife and reflects your divine
plan of love. Now, with angels and archangels, and the
whole company of heaven, we sing the unending hymn
of your praise.

Sanctus (to be sung)

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth
are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who
comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Commentator: Please kneel for the consecration.

Priest: Lord, you are holy indeed, the fountain of all holiness.
Let your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them
holy, so that they may become for us the Body and
Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Before he was given up
to death, a death he freely accepted, he took bread and
gave you thanks. He broke the bread, gave it to his
disciples, and said:

Take this, all of you, and eat it: This is my body which
will be given up for you.

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he

gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to his
disciples, and said:

21 | P a g e
Take this, all of you, and drink from it: This is the cup of
my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting
covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins
may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.

Priest: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith.

All: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

Commentator: Please, all stand. (except the couple that remains

kneeling)

Priest: In memory of his and resurrection, we offer you, Father,

this life-giving bread, this saving cup. We thank you for
counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve
you. May all of us who share in the body and blood of
Christ be brought together in unity by the Holy Spirit.

Lord, remember your Church throughout the world;

make us grow in love, together with Pope Francis our
Pope, Most Rev. Alberto Uy, our bishop, and all the
clergy.

Remember our brothers and sisters who have gone to

their rest in the hope of rising again; bring them and all
the departed into the light of your presence. Have
mercy on us all; make us worthy to share eternal life
with Mary, the virgin Mother of God, with the apostles,
and with all the saints who have done your will
throughout the ages. May we praise you in union with
them, and give glory through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through him, with him, in him, in the unity of the Holy

Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, almighty Father, for
ever and ever.

All: Amen.
22 | P a g e
Priest: Let us pray with confidence to the Father in the words
our Savior gave us.

Lord’s Prayer (to be sung)

The Nuptial Blessing

Priest: My dear friends, let us ask God for his continued

blessing upon Roger and Lita.

(All pray silently for a short while.)

Priest: Holy Father, creator of the universe, maker of man and

woman in your own likeness, source of blessing for
married life, we humbly pray to you for this woman who
today is united with her husband in this sacrament of
marriage.

May your fullest blessing come upon her and her

husband so that they may together rejoice in your gift of
married love and enrich your Church with their children.

Lord, may they both praise you when they are happy
and turn to you in their sorrows. May they be glad that
you help them in their work and know that you are with
them in their need. May they pray to you in the
community of the Church, and be your witnesses in the
world. May they reach old age in the company of their
friends, and come at last to the kingdom of heaven. We
ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

Sign of Peace:

23 | P a g e
Priest: Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles: I leave
you peace, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins,
but on the faith of your Church, and grant us the peace
and unity of your kingdom where you live forever and
ever.

All: Amen.

Priest: The peace of the Lord be with you always.

All: And also with you.

Priest: Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

Lamb of God (to be sung)

Communion (with songs)

Priest: This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the
world. Happy are those who are called to his supper.

All: Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the
word and I shall be healed.

The priest gives communion to the couple and the people.

Priest: The Body and Blood of Christ.

All: Amen

Commentator: May I ask the Cord and Veil Sponsors to remove

the cord and the veil.

The sponsors remove the cord and the veil.

Commentator: Please, all stand for the final prayer.

24 | P a g e
Prayer after Communion:

Priest: Let us pray. Lord, in your love you have given us this
Eucharist to unite us with one another and with you. As
you have made Roger and Lita one in this sacrament of
Marriage, so now make them one in love for each other.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

Concluding rites:

Admonition:

Priest: Roger and Lita, now that you have received the Holy
Sacrament of Matrimony, I admonish you to remain
faithful to one another.

Lita, love your husband and be a good housewife;

persevere in faith and love and holiness. Roger, love
your wife as Christ loves his Church, and live with her in
the holy fear of the Lord.

The Final Blessing:

Priest: The Lord be with you.

All: And with your Spirit.

Priest: Bow your heads and pray for God’s blessing. May
Jesus, who was a guest at the wedding in Cana, bless
you and your families and friends.

All: Amen.

Priest: May Jesus, who loved his Church to the end, always fill
your hearts with his love.
25 | P a g e
All: Amen.

Priest: May he grant that, as you believe in his resurrection, so

you may for him in joy and hope.

All: Amen.

Priest: And may almighty God bless you all, the Father, and
the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

All: Amen.

Dismissal

Priest: Go in peace, to love and serve the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

Commentator: Let us give the new married couple a big round of

applause.
