COMMODITY PROFILE

Coconut remains as one of the most important traditional Investment opportunities

export agricultural crops in Zamboanga Peninsula. The industry
supports about 165,914 coconut farmers and farm workers
throughout the region excluding other sectors which are either
directly or indirectly dependent on it.
As of 2010, there are 303 SMEs engaged in coco-based
businesses; 530 coco-based product buyers, traders and exporters;
4 coco oil millers; 12 Trade and Coconut Industry Associations;
410,000 farmers and farmer associations; and 6 ARCs and
cooperatives in the region.
Finished coco-based products are sold in the local and
international market. The major export products from coconut are
coconut (copra) crude oil and refined oil, and coco coir/fiber.
