Smart Loops License Agreement for "MIDI Drum Loops Volume 5"

All sounds, samples, files, and text contained in the “MIDI Drum Loops Volume 5” download file
are property of Smart Loops. You are granted a license from Smart Loops, to use these files as
part of your own musical productions, for profit or not. These sounds cannot be resold in the
current format, or any other format, as is prohibited by law.

Using these files in your own songs and productions, and making a profit from your songs is
permitted. Transferring, or reselling these files, in any format, not as part of your personal songs
and productions, and marketed as such, is not permitted.

2.0 Note Mappings

Each loop in MIDI Drum Loops Volume 5 is provided using two different note mappings.

The main difference between the GM (General Midi), and the GM Enhanced, is in the Hi-Hat
mapping. The standard GM Spec does not use note number 22 and 26. We have added these
note numbers in the GM Enhanced loops to make the loops more realistic. So, instead of just
having three notes for the hi-hat (Open, Closed, and foot/pedal), the GM has five different notes
for the hi-hats. (See the table below).

Also, we use two notes for the same snare drum the GM Enhanced loops. One note (#38) is for
the center of the snare hit with the tip, and the other note (#40) is for rim-shot on the snare (hitting
the center and the rim of the drum at the same time). Often a drummer will hit a rim-shot on the
back-beats (like beats two and four in a standard rock groove), but all the notes in-between
(grace-notes) are not played with a rim-shot, but rather hit lightly in the center with just the tip of
the stick.

So, if you are using one of the Smart Loops Sample Sets, we highly recommend using the GM
Enhanced loops. These loops will also work with other sample sets that recognize these
additional hi-hat notes (as described above). If you’re using a standard GM sample set/patch of
drums, use the regular GM loops.

2.1 GM Enhanced
The loops in the GM Enhanced folder are optimized for use with the Smart Loops SL Sample
Sets. The GM Enhanced mappings add even more realism to the loops by using additional snare
and hi-hat samples.

MIDI Groove Clips – For use with SONAR, Session Drummer 2, and other Cakewalk products.
MIDI Groove clips are MIDI clips that you can roll out like audio Groove clips. Please see the
MIDI Groove Clips help topic in your Cakewalk product for more information on working with MIDI
Groove Clips.

Standard MIDI Type 1 – For use with any sequencer that can load type 1 Standard MIDI Files.
