INTRODUCCIÓN
Se sabe que una lengua sólo puede ser garantía de comunicación si dispone de
todos los recursos necesarios para expresar y comunicar todas las temáticas, en
todas las situaciones y en todos los canales. Una lengua es un sistema verbal
de signos doblemente articulados, que sirve como medio de comunicación entre
los miembros de la comunidad donde se usa. Es un código unitario y total, pero
no uniforme ni homogéneo, porque presenta diversidad de realizaciones.
In any research that deals with the lexical meaning, the definition of this is usually
the first obstacle difficult to overcome.
That is why this research frames the lexicon in the first place. It is known that a
language can only be a guarantee of communication if it has all the necessary
resources to express and communicate all the themes, in all situations and in all
channels.
The set of words that configure a language is called the lexicon. Lexicology is the
science responsible for the study of words: their origin, their formation process and
the relationships that are established between them.
This work is framed in the lexicon and semantics, as a basis for a better handling
of the language and good communication, for that reason is that the subjects
mentioned above, are immersed in this research, in which has taken into account
the language clear and simple, that allows us a better understanding.
THE LEXICON
Lexical or open categories: They are those that have a referential character (that is,
those that designate processes, properties, actions or entities). They are characterized by
forming an open inventory (ie there is no specific and limited number for these units).
Nouns, verbs, and adjectives are canonical representatives of this type of lexical units.
Within the open classes are the names, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. They are called
open classes because their content can vary and you can change the form of words and
even add more within each class.
Examples:
1. The hostage was killed. = verb, open class
2. I was sick. = adjective, open class
3. He wants the blue book. = adjective, open class
4. The President. = noun, open class
5. Tomorrow I'll call you. = adverb, open class.
6. We prepare our food. = adjective, open class
They take complements to the ones they select, and that are their arguments.
Functional or closed categories: They are those that only have grammatical meaning
(that is, they are fundamental for the generation of a sentence but that, however, have no
referential meaning). They are characterized by forming a closed inventory. Conjunctions
and articles are representatives of this type of unit.
In them are the conjunctions, prepositions, articles and pronouns; are called so because
unlike open classes, the closed classes cannot be modified and the list of words it
contains is limited. to the set of all these categories is known as grammatical categories.

SEMANTICS:
Semantics is the theory of meaning. It is a discipline that encompasses several levels and
concepts of meaning, whether lexical, formal, structural or functional.
STRUCTURAL SEMANTICS
Structuralism has had a great influence on modern Semantics, and sees language as a
network of systematic relationships. Based on the principle of compositionality, Linguistics
attempts to transfer semantic relationships to syntactic relationships between word
meanings. The difference between paint a red house and paint a house red can be
inferred from the order of words: red (red) is part of a nominal phrase (red house )) in the
first example, but it is part of an independent sentence in paint-house-red, the second
example. Semantically this boils down to whether the house was red before being painted
or after. Similarly, Romance languages exploit semantically the position of the adjective.
Thus, in Portuguese a heavy charge is a heavy burden, while a heavy charge is a hard,
heavy work.
All descriptive sciences begin by making classifications and Semantics is no exception.
One of these semantic classification systems is a thesaurus, another is the numeric index
of a library. Sources of modern linguistics such as Wordnet and ontologies distinguish
between different relationships, such as
"X is like Y" (X = hyponym
"X is the opposite of Y" (antonym relationship: X and Y are antonyms, for example: ugly
vs. handsome
"X is part of Y" (relationship of meronymy or, in other words, partonymics: X is meronym,
Y is holonomic, for example: wheel and car
Because languages are not predictable, one can not simply assert that linguistic
classifications faithfully imitate biological classifications or that they are the same in all
languages. For example: dolphins are biologically mammals, however, from a linguistic
point of view they are classified as fish. In the English language the potatoes are
considered vegetables, but they are not Kartoffeln / kartofler neither in German nor in
Danish.
SEMANTIC ROLE
The semantic role are conceptual relations of the message world. They are part of the
content of the linguistic messages. In the semantic role, the participants play a specific
role: Agent, Patient (name) The argument on its part includes the verb and the number of
participants (agent and patient) that are included. So it can be said that the verb has
semantic cases and arguments.
Phonetics: Treats the articulatory and acoustic variation of speech sounds and the way
they are perceived.
Phonology: It deals with the invariant elements, the linguistic units codified in the sound
waves that we produce and perceive.
The units in which phonology deals (phonemes) have distinctive character and contrast
producing differences of meaning.
"Phonetics: Science that studies the sounds of speech"
"Phonology: Science that studies the linguistic organization of the sounds of the different
languages"
PHONOLOGY
They are the ideal sound units or models, considered as phonic signals used in linguistic
communication, within a given community
INTONATION: Intonation has as its role to highlight the meaning of sentences and
sentences and avoid monotony by imparting musicality to statements, and also to look for
some expressive effects.
PAUSAS
The pauses are silences or short interruptions and are originated by physiological reasons
such as breathing and regaining strength, and for linguistic reasons.
The pauses can be short (/) or long (//) according to the requirements of the locution or
according to the interpretation of the punctuation marks.
Phonetic representation
Level of representation of speech sounds.
Concrete representation.
It reflects the variation.

CONCLUSIONS:
• Castilian has formed its lexicon from the combination of monemas and through
processes of derivation, composition and parasynthesis.
•
• Any language to form new words, both simple and compound, is continually receiving
the influence of the speakers and the influence of other languages and cultures that are in
contact and relationship with them.
• The methodology we adopt for lexicon teaching has to be consistent with what we know
about the way in which the lexicon is acquired.
• Within the area of English, phonetics and phonology are one of the most forgotten
subjects in the classroom, perhaps because they are complex topics to understand. On
the other hand, only gives higher priority to the teaching of vocabulary and grammar which
are also important but no more than the aforementioned branches. The way to orientate
the teaching of the pronunciation of English must be based on phonetics and phonology of
words.
Ejemplos:
1. Mataron al rehén. = verbo, clase abierta
2. Estaba enferma. = adjetivo, clase abierta
3. Quiere el libro azul. = adjetivo, clase abierta
4. El presidente. = sustantivo, clase abierta
5. Mañana te llamo. = adverbio, clase abierta.
6. Preparo nuestra comida. = adjetivo, clase abierta
casas [ˈkasas] cava [ˈkaβ̞a] envío [emˈbio]
papeles [paˈpeles] cada [ˈkað̞a] sangre [ˈsanˠgɾe]
lunes [ˈlunes] vago [ˈbaɣ̞o] ánfora [ˈaɱfoɾa]
Representación fonológica
Nivel de representación de los fonemas.
Representación abstracta.
Refleja la invariancia (sistematicidad) y los elementos que son distintivos.
casas /ˈkasa/+/s/ cava /ˈkaba/ envío /enˈbio/
papeles /paˈpel/+/s/ cada /ˈkada/ sangre /ˈsangɾe/
lunes /ˈlunes/+/s/ vago /ˈbago/ ánfora /ˈanfoɾa/
