Her work has focused on late medieval and Renaissance constructions ofthe gendered body through medical discourse and practical experience; as a related issue, she has ‘worked on the significance and types of bodywork provided by women in the household setting, She is currently completing a book on women’s self-care in late ‘medieval Iberia, Sandra Cavallo is Professor of Early Modern History at Royal Holloway, University of London and specializes in the history of medicine, gender and ‘material culture, She is the author of Charity and Power in Early Modern Haly (Cambridge University Press, 1995), Artisans of the Body in Early Modern Italy: dentties, Families, Masculinities (Manchester University Press, 2007), and the co-editor of Widowhood in Medieval and Early Modern Europe (Longman, 1999), Spaces, Objects and Identities in Early Modern Italian Medicine (Blackwell, 2008), Domestic institutional Interiors in Early Modern Europe (Ashgate, 2009) land A’ Cultural History of Childhood and the Family vol. 3, The Early Modern ‘Age (Berg, 2010). William Eamon is Regents Professor of History and Dean of the Honors College at New Mexico State University.
