In a half-page, discuss the feminine associations with the new village of Mbanta and how it
conflicts with Okonkwo's personality.

Okonkwo is a character that has a terrible past where his father as he perceives him as
a coward and unworthy which is a feminine characteristic in his culture. This develops a conflict
to his role model where he doesn’t have and he wants to be better than his father so he grew up
trying his best to do everything that he could and he is one of a successful man in a village
where everyone respects him. He also abuses his wife by beating, by this it show that Okonkwo
hate feminine action and he considered as a bad personality. Then, everything falls down apart
as the title of the story where Okonkwo accidentally kill Ezedu’s son and he has to flee. As
Okonkwo flee to Mbanta to the place where his mother was born, his uncle, Uchendu talk to him
about the culture they have where the wife should be buried in the husband village if nothing
bad happens in the marriage but his mother is buried in his own village. This makes Okonkwo
rethinks about his past where he hates the feminine characterism, then he has to go back to the
village where he has to depend on his mother family and it makes him felt weak. Female in this
society is also considered as weak too and he doesn’t like to be like his father and this make the
feminine association conflicted with his personality.
