Greetings! Sing a Song or Action Song!
A. Recall
What is subtraction? What symbol used in subtraction?
B. Motivation
Present the incentive chart.
2. Presentation
Show drawing of 3 boys and post the problem on the board.
Joshua, Jeric and Bryan picked mangoes in the farm. Each of them
brought three pieces of mangoes when they went home. How many groups of
mangoes are there?
3. Discussion
Ask: what are the names of the children? How many are they?
What do they do? How many many mangoes does Joshua have? Jeric?
Bryan? Do they have the same number of mangoes? How many groups of three
mangoes are there? Write the equivalent expression on the board.
There are three groups of three mangoes or 3 groups of 3.
4. Group Activity (Cooperative Learning)

5. Generalization
Ask the pupils: how do we write the equivalent expression in counting
groups of equal parts?
1. We count and write the number of the groups.
2. We count and write the number of objects in each group.

Ask: how many children are there in front of the class? How many guava
fruits does each pupil have? Do they have the same number of guavas? How many
groups of 5 guavas are there?
There are 4 groups of 5.
