Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in India, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1644. It is

Mecca Masjid or Maccah Masjid is one of the oldest mosques in India, located near Chowmahalla
Palace, Laad Bazaar in Hyderabad. Constructed by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, it is named
Mecca because it believed that the bricks and soil during its erection were transported from
Mecca.

Talking about the architectural patterns, the internal structure and external design of Mecca
Masjid are strikingly beautiful. Also, giant prayer hall, passageways, arched galleries, octagonal
balconies, minarets, and dome structure are impeccably crafted and designed.

Built by the 4th Nawab of Awadh – Nawab Asaf-Ud-Dowhala – in 1784, Asafi Imambara is
commonly known as Bara Imambara. It is one of the most popular and splendid mosques in
India.
Also, Bara Imambara is one of the largest unsupported structures of the country. The
construction pattern made of Lakhnawi bricks and lime plaster is unique and immensely
beautiful. The roof is built without using ant beam or girder and it is said that no metal or wood
element was used during the construction.

Located near Qutab Minar, Jamali-Kamali is an ancient mosque in Delhi, now mostly in ruins. The
mosque and the two adjoining tombs – Jamali and Kamali were built with red sandstone and red
marble. The décor and design of domes, prayer hall, central arch and courtyard are exceptionally
charming and splendid.
Located in Mehrauli village, the area around Jamali Kamali tombs and mosque is considered to
be one of the most haunted places in Delhi.
Must-see: The Mughal architectural splendor showcasing the Jharokha system, a practice which
was introduced by the Mughals in India. Jharokha or balcony used to be a platform from where
emperors directly communicated with general public face-to-face and attended to their
grievances.

Jamia Masjid is a classical Indian mosque, located near Nowhatta in Srinagar. It has a beautiful
structure with enclosed courtyard, wooden pillars and well-maintained landscaped garden
surrounding the mosque area.
Following the orders of Mir Mohammad Hamadani, Sultan Sikandar Shah Kashmiri Shahmiri built
this beautiful 1394 mosque in Kashmir.

Located within Agra Fort, Nagina Masjid was built by Shah Jahan for the begums and womenfolk
of royal families. This Mughal mosque of India is made of white marble and comprises of domes
and a marble-paved court in the middle. The adjoining balcony offered beautiful views of the
surroundings and of the Mina bazaar that operated on the front road.

Adhai Din ka Jhonpra is a Sanskrit College converted to a mosque, located behind the Ajmer
Sharif Dargah. Some parts of this Indian mosque stand in ruins while some parts still reflect the
architectural glory of the prayer hall, wall panels, and pillars made of yellow limestone.

Built by Shahjahan for his daughter Jahanara Begum, Jama (also called as Jami) masjid is one of
