SAEs: FFA Pumpkin Patch

Evaluation: Calla Decided to be the other land lab intern after helping set-up and plant the
Land lab with pumpkins and other crops. She has a solid understanding of what the
responsibilities are and what the irrigation patterns are.

Recommendation: Recommended checking the irrigation frequently and moving rows over
as necessary to keep the plants watered.

SAEs: FFA land lab

Evaluation: Jack worked with other members in the chapter to set up and plant the land lab
with pumpkins and other crops. During this time he successfully set up the irrigation system
for the summer and evaluated what was necessary to start the plants off.

Recommendation: Recommended letting each row set for at least a couple of hours and that
he get each row set in the next few days for the crops to start growing.

Evaluation: Looked at market steers and breeding heifer. Discussed feeding rations and
watched leading steers around pen. Filled out pre entries

Recommendation: Reminded to ivermec for Lice soon. Return pre entry forms to the
extension office before June 15 and to continue work on halter breaking

Evaluation: Watched Jordan show at the Mesa County Fair in both sheep and goats; market
and breeding. Marina Jones helped her. Did well. Showed almost all day between the two
shows.

Evaluation: Jordan discussed how she placed in her breeding classes with her ewes and
what things she could look for in future breeding stock.

Recommendation: Recommended Jordan watched the rest of the breeding classes to learn
more for next year.

Evaluation: Met with Ashley before and after each class she showed in during fair to evaluate
where she was feeling for the class. Ashley is in good shape and learned a lot this year
about raising her own animals and how to prepare an animal for a show.

Recommendation: Recommended to write down comments that the judge had on her pigs to
keep in mind as she prepared for next years project.

Evaluation: Worked on developing Alex's career goal, she utilized the class to decide she
wants to work with equine and describe the two careers she found the most interesting.

Recommendation: Recommended searching for activities or projects she could do to further


her experience in her career area.

Evaluation: Meet and discussed career choices with Jeweli. Narrowed down options for
careers with interests and was able to break down how an SAE project would be useful in
that preparation.

Recommendation: Recommended looking into the Colorado SAE grants to fund an


Entrepreneurship SAE to grow and sell flowers locally.
