DEFINITION Bell’s Palsy is an acute paralysis of the occurrence which is thought


to be caused by inflammation, with an unknown cause in the facial
nerve in the part of the canal above the stylomastoid foramen (Raj,
2006).

PHYSIOTHERAPY
EXAMINATION Ugo Fisch Scale and Manual Muscle Testing (MMT)

IMPLEMENTATION A. Pre Interaction Phase
PROCEDURE 1. Verify patient data first, if any
2. Wash your hands
3. Position the patient comfortably

B. Orientation Stage
1. Giving greetings as a therapeutic approach
2. Explain the purpose and procedure of action for the patient
or family
3. Asking the patient's readiness before the activity is carried
out
4. Checking the physical condition of the patient
C. Phase of work
1. Before starting therapy, the therapist should conduct several
examinations related to the patient's problems
2. The examination carried out is the measurement of Ugo
Fisch Scale and Manual Muscle Testing (MMT)
3. After all tests have been carried out, the therapist can start
therapy for the patient
4. Infra Red
 Adjust the patient's position: supine lying, prone lying or
sitting
 Put yourself on the side of the patient
 The area to be treated is free from obstacles (clothes,
cloth)
 Clean the therapy area with a towel
 Place the tool perpendicular to the area to be irradiated
 Adjust the irradiation distance + 45 cm
 Turn on the infrared device
 Therapy time 10-20 minutes
 Check the condition of the patient: do not overheat

5.Transcutaneus Electrical Nerve Stimulation (Faradic)

 Determine the frequency and duration of therapy


 Check: cables, plugs, connecting cables, intensity buttons
in zero position and polarity as needed, electrodes are
quite wet
 Adjust patient position: supine lying
 Put yourself on the side of the patient
 The area to be treated is free from obstacles (clothes,
cloth)
 Clean the therapy area with a towel
 Test the skin sensation of the patient
 Test the skin sensation of the patient
 Place TENS electrodes on the face and cervical
 Turn on the on-off button, increase the intensity of the
current as needed
 Check whether the current perceived by the patient is too
large or small
D. Termination Stage
1. Conduct action evaluation
2. Check the vital sign of the patient again
3. Goodbye to patients
4. Tidy up the tools
5. Wash your hands
6. Record activities in the physiotherapy worksheet
