THE DRAGONS OF THE CABIAO YOUTH CONCERT BAND 88 WRITEUP Going back
in history, it was a strong desire from the grandfather, DOMINADOR “LOLO ADONG”
NOGOY, SR., to help his town-mates in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija elevate the lives of their children for
a better tomorrow by teaching them and developing their talent in music through the formation
of the CABIAO YOUTH CONCERT BAND 88. The band was established in 1988 with the solid
support from the grandfather’s family, particularly his children abroad, he started the project
with the goals of developing the band members’ musical talents, keeping them out of vices and
helping them finish their education to find stable jobs.

Most of the band members are proud to be in their chosen careers. Some are faculty
members of the University of the Philippines College of Music in Diliman, Quezon City. Some
are members of the Philippine Air Force, Philippine Army, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine
National Police, Bureau of Fire and Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology,
Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, and the defunct San Miguel Philharmonic Orchestra. There
are band members who are now working abroad as musicians in Hong Kong Disneyland and as
professionals and entrepreneurs in different countries. The others are teachers, consultants, and
advisers in different music groups and bands.

Maestro Leo Roque and Dr. Sonny Yangko was the first conductor of CYCB 88 in 1988-
1990. Rolf Campo known as “Kapopong or K-pop” took over from 1991-1994. Maestro Noel
Villanueva in 1995-1996. Maestro Jopat Grajera in 1997-1998. Maestro Marvin Flores in 1999-2001,
but CYCB 88 was stopped because of Father's death. The band has been inactive since 2004, but
in 2012, the grandchildren of LOLO ADONG, ignited the fire to continue his goal and kept and
passed on the legacy that he started, thus, reviving CYCB 88. Like the year 1988, 2012 was also
the year of the Dragon, as the basis for calling the band, The Dragons of the Cabiao Youth Concert
Band 88.

The Cabiao Youth Concert Band 88 consists of 6 batches since 1988 until now. When 2001
the 5th batch of the band, the daughter of Dominador Nogoy, Jr., Maria Dianne Nogoy Lagman
and his husband Michael Lagman was one of the member of the 5th batch of the band after the
death of Dominador Nogoy, Sr. The batch was created, until 2004, the band was stop.
With the help and guidance of our Lord, our relatives abroad, and some senior members,
the grandchildren of LOLO Adong, would like to pass on this legacy. As the motto says, “IT IS
DREAMING THE GREATEST DREAM, SEEKING THE HIGHEST GOAL, THAT WE BUILD
THE BRIGHTEST TOMORROW!”
