WHAT WE DO

Agar Corporation provides Measurement & Control Systems for the Upstream & Downstream Industries including
Interface Detectors, Oil/Water Monitors and MultiPhase Flow Meters. Our industry-leading solutions are used in
Dehydration, LACT Units, Well Testing and Waste Water Treatment.

Through our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Houston, Agar’s product development and testing procedures
exceed industry standards. Featuring a Multi-Phase Flow Loop, which has been utilized by customers and end-
users, Agar can simulate customer’s applications/problems to develop engineered solutions.

One of the few companies providing non-nuclear, versatile, multi-phase flow meters used in well testing to
optimize oil well production, Agar’s meters are designed for real time measurement of water, oil, and gas flow
rates simultaneously without separation of the phases. These real-time capabilities allow for optimization of all
types of critical oil-production enhancement techniques in the oil and gas industry.

Manufacturing & Testing Facility Test Loop

TRADITIONAL INDUSTRY APPLICATIONS

▪ Gas-lift operators use Agar’s meters as a diagnostic tool to find problems in the field such as choke
manifolds and gas lift valve failures.
▪ Agar’s interface detection systems have been used for over 25 years by all major oil companies
and many independent refiners and oil producers with installations in over 250 desalters and over
5,000 process vessels worldwide.
▪ Because of the ability to detect small amounts of oil in water, Agar systems are typically used to
control the oil/water interface and reduce oil under carry and product loss.
▪ The same technology can be used to control the amount of water in the product to assure product
specifications are met.
▪ Because of Agar’s use of the energy absorption principle, the company’s systems are unaffected
by coatings or build-up and can be inserted and extracted while the process is under pressure and in
service.

Agar’s measurement solutions and services are perfect for oil and gas companies wanting to optimize their
upstream and downstream processes.

Agar Corporation Introduces a New Solution that Detects Foaming Before Upsets and Compressor
Damage Occurs

HOUSTON, TX USA (April 28, 2008) – In response to the industry’s demand for a more accurate Foam Detector
to minimize or eliminate the presence of foam carryover and the resulting contamination of sales gas and
damage to compressors---Agar introduces its latest technology. The new Agar Foam Detector was developed
to accurately detect the presence of Foam, respond to changing Foam concentrations, and control the defoamer
injection rates in the process separators/contactors before upsets occur.

With early detection, Agar’s system can automatically initiate or increase/decrease

the anti-foam chemical injection rate causing foam to dissipate. As a result, anti-foam
chemical feed rates are optimized, which in turn, reduces overall chemical costs.

Agar Sales Manager, Gary Fransen, notes that by providing a robust instrument that
detects the presence of foam, Agar has been able to assist its customers in recognizing
potential problems well before they become a maintenance expense to downstream
compressors – saving downtime and reducing chemical costs.

PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT

Agar Corporation Introduces the OW-300 Water Cut Meter at This Year’s Offshore Technology
Conference (OTC)

The Agar water-cut meter OW-300 series is a third-generation oil/water analyzer.

Designed to measure the volumetric concentration of water in the oil stream for low
water cut (WC) ranges, the OW-300 meter is made as an in-line spool meter (1”-4”)
and as an insertion meter whereby the probe can be inserted into a pipeline or a
vessel, through a nozzle/isolation valve and seal housing. In addition, Hot Tapping
methods can be used for installation when meters require retrofitting. The OW-300
has many advantages over other currently available meters and is an extension of
Agar’s metering capabilities, which include the OW-200 meter used in high water
cut (WC) ranges. The OW-300’s numerous advantages include:

▪ Extreme sensitivity, for use in custody transfer

▪ Low detection level of 100ppm
▪ Temperature range up to 600° C
▪ Auto correction for a zero shift caused by hydrocarbon product change.
▪ Hydride formation measurement
▪ No pressure effect
▪ No Salinity effect
▪ Intrinsically safe
▪ ATEX certified

The OW-300 has been field tested and proven with current installations in Kuwait, Brazil, and Spain. With almost
30 years of experience, Agar continues to raise the bar in metering capabilities and process measurement
solutions.

Visit us at OTC in booth No. 1557 to learn more about the OW-300 meter as well as our full offering of Process
Measurement and Control Solutions.

PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT

Agar Corporation Introduces the MPFM-50 Flow Meter at This Year’s Offshore Technology
Conference (OTC)

The AGAR MPFM-50 is a low cost multi-phase meter that continues Agar’s longstanding tradition of design
excellence in developing metering solutions for the oil and gas industry. With almost 30 years of experience,
Agar’s multiphase solutions also include the MPFM 300, 401 and 408 series.

Many applications require a low cost, accurate multiphase meter in order to measure gas void fractions of less
than 25%. These applications can be found in mature fields with very low gas-oil-ratios (GORs); the liquid leg of
inefficient separators; and in heavy oil fields.

With today’s Coriolis flow meter technology, mass flow rates and density can be measured accurately with
up to 25% gas in the flow stream. The combination of this new generation Coriolis flow meter and the AGAR
microwave water cut meter provides a low cost, accurate multiphase flow meter that can measure oil, water
and gas without separation of the production stream. The AGAR oil/water monitor with microwave technology
provides the capability for measuring water cuts from 0-100% even in the presence of changing salinities.
The Agar MPFM-50 Series is a true multiphase flow meter that provides on-line, real-time well production
information for the entire production flow stream, which eliminates the need for expensive, secondary equipment
such as phase separators and pumps. Following its startup, the MPFM-50 does not require further field calibration
or detailed knowledge of the fluid properties, such as density and salinity, to attain the specified accuracy.

The MPFM-50 Series is fully self-contained and compact, which

is ideal for use in rugged field conditions and can easily be trailer
mounted for portable service. It also provides fast and accurate well
test results.
Currently, the MPFM 50 is being utilized by Oxy in New Mexico
field. Visit us at OTC in booth No. 1557 to learn more about the
MPFM-50 multi-phase meter, as well as our full offering of process
measurement and control solutions.
