Objective: Students will be able to recall information from the book and research new
information via internet to create a POWTOON movie/slideshow with 100% accuracy.

Lesson Activity:
You will have to choose one of the four options below for your POWTOON. Make certain to use
materials in the public domain that are free for using, sharing and editing. Also, cite your work.
Any and all websites used during research must be cited.
The POWTOON choices are:
1. Pick a timeline of up to 5 significant events in Amal’s life and write descriptions of
consequences of these events
2. Make up to 5 cultural connections in the book. For example (which you may use):
Pakistani culture; Women’s Roles; Clothing; Food; Important People.
3. Create a picture glossary of Urdu words – picture and definition – of the following terms:
Kheer; mehndi; churidar; chotu; alif; sari; hijab; anarkali; cholay; korma; roti; nihari;
nabay; banway; chak; baba; laddus; sahib; bibi; amma; jalebis; kamizes; kulfis; shalwar;
abu; samosas.
4. Create a book report using a book report template.
