Course Code LEA 121 Course Title POLICE ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION WITH
POLICE PLANNING
Credit Units 3 UNITS Time Duration 54 HOURS

A. Course Description The course covers the organizational set-up of a patrol force, its functions and techniques; patrol supervision; and its functional relationships with other police units. It
includes study of the various systems of police communication like the telephone, radio, TV and teletype; techniques in transmission of messages thru the various media and
its application to the requirement of police administration and operations; use of police call boxes and two-way radio. It also includes instruction on the use of modern
electronic gadgets on the transmission of messages such as the use of signal lights and flares.
B. Course Objectives At the end of the semester, the student will be able to:
Knowledge 1. articulate and discuss the latest developments in criminology practice,
2. promote professionalism in the practice of criminology,
Skills/Abilities 1. practice as successful criminologists for the advancement of society and
2. apply with competence the theoretical knowledge and skills in criminology practice and other allied fields of criminal justice system.
Values/Attitudes The graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Criminology of Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) shall have the ability to demonstrate professionalism in the field of
law enforcement
Competency Standards/ 1. apply knowledge essential to the conduct of criminological research on crimes, crime causation, victims and offenders to include deviant behaviour,
Program outcomes 2. apply knowledge, skills essential to the practice of crime detection and investigation and fields of criminalistics,
3. apply knowledge and understanding of the elements of crimes as provided in existing laws, including the principles of criminal evidence and procedures,
4. apply knowledge and skills in law enforcement administration,
5. apply knowledge and skills in handling offenders’ welfare and development for their re-integration to the community,
6. engage in lifelong learning and recognize the need to keep abreast with the development in the practice of criminology,
7. communicate effectively the practice of the profession in public safety services and the entire criminal justice system,
8. work effectively and independently in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams,
9. practice professional, social and ethical attitudes, values and responsibilities and
10. appreciate the value of “Filipino historical cultural heritage” and uphold constitutional and statutory guarantees.
