6.6 Detailing
6.6.a Anchorage of carbon rods
The calculation of the anchorage length is based on [REF.19]. The groove shall respect the following
proportions:
𝐿𝑟 1.5𝑏 Lr
1.5𝑏 𝑒 2𝑏
e
𝐿𝑟 2𝑒
In the present calculation note for convenience of the construction site, the dimensions are taken as:
Lr = e
Sealing mortar is imperatively BETEC 110 EDF (ciment base mortar with high performance at young
age, for instance characteristic compressive cylinder strength at 28 days of 65 MPa). For this mortar, the
shear stress between RFC and mortar is taken as τFU (Mpa) = 5.3 MPa.

The anchorage length of the RFC12 is taken as 500mm starting from its point of stress of 279 MPa.
6.6.a Anchorage of rebars
Anchoring of rebar in the existing structure is done using Hilti Epoxy HY 150. The anchoring length is
calculated as per the recommendation of the HILTI Technical documentations, based on the French
BAEL (Reinforced Concrete Design Specifications). The anchoring length is given by:
𝐴 𝑓
𝐿 𝑚𝑚 𝛾
𝑢∗𝜏
Where:
As the section of the bar
fy the yield strength of the bar
u the perimeter of the hole
ϒs a safety factor taken equal to 1.15
And:
Where:
ftj is taken equal to 3MPA and ψs=1.5 for HA bars.
According ot French BAEL, ftj is taken as: ftj = 0.6 + 0.06 * fcj = 0.6 + 0.06 * 23 = 1.98 MPa
This value is conservative given the pull out tests obtained in [REF.7].
For HA18:
420𝑁
254𝑚𝑚 ∗
𝐿 𝑚𝑚 ∗ 1.15 610 𝑚𝑚
3.14 ∗ 24 𝑚𝑚 ∗ 0.6 ∗ 1.5 ∗ 1.98𝑁/𝑚𝑚²
The anchoring length shall not be taken less than the development length defined as per [REF.17]5.11.2,
equal to 𝑙 0.06 ∗ 18 ∗ 420 453𝑚𝑚. Based on the same calculation principle, the following results
are obtained:
