Part-time Employment: Chef/ Waitress at Station Bar and Restaurant

Before I came to University, I worked at a local restaurant for 3 years, during the week and on weekends. Starting
as a Saturday girl either waitressing or completing vegetable preparation, I worked my way up to Sous Chef on a
Sunday morning serving around 200 customers and head waitress when needed. I enjoyed working with a driven
team of colleagues and friends and I still continue to work there when I go home from University.

Volunteer Fresher Representative at Nottingham Trent University

Over the first two weeks back at University after the summer break, I volunteered to be a NTSU Fresher Rep which
meant that I would be volunteering to aid new students of the University in any way possible. This involved moving
in their belongings to their new accommodation and taking them to enrol at the University. As well as spending the
day with them and organising evening events so that they could have the best first week of University possible. I
thoroughly enjoyed having this responsibility of taking care of other people, as well as working with a fantastic
team of other volunteers.

Skills
Organisation
I have always been an organised person, managing my extra-curricular activities with school time and my part-time
job and now University work with my lectures and seminars. I consistently meet my deadlines and make sure my
tutors see a hard working individual who strives to do their best at all times.

Teamwork
I am a very sociable, confident person, so I enjoy working in a team, particularly with people who are as self-
motivated and enthusiastic as myself. I enjoy the sociable side of working within a team and am not afraid to take
the role of team leader if necessary. At Michael Kors I worked in an intimate office environment which meant I got
to experience what working for a close team was like and I know that I really thrived in that position.

Responsibility
Living at University, I enjoy this responsibility as I am a well organised, self- disciplined individual. In the
workplace, I take pride in being trusted with responsibilities and I am used to dealing with tasks under pressure
from my part time job.

Other
During my A-Levels I attended a trip to the Guardian Education Centre where I wrote an article on the demand for
women to be skinny within the media. This encouraged my interest to be involved in Fashion Journalism/editing.

I took advantage of two different trips that the University laid on; Tour of the Marks and Spencer’s Distribution
Centre and a John Smedley Factory tour as well as visiting the VOGUE 100 exhibition in London.

I am currently a member of the Fashion Society at Nottingham Trent and enjoy getting involved with all the
Fashion events.
I am a very active person- I achieved up to grade 7 clarinet and I partake in the Race for Life every year. I have a
strong passion for the French Language- studying it in my own time and then putting it to use twice a year when I
visit France. I am of course, passionate about Fashion, Art and Celebrity culture and keep updated with blogs,
Instagram and magazines which feed my interest and I also enjoy reading articles or newspapers on anything
related.
