THE KENKU SWORDSMAN SCHOOL

As stated previously, the Kenku are extremely discerning in regards to their techniques. A human
student must either prove his worth to a Kenku sensei or be selected by a Kenku to receive training.
Benefi t: +1 Refl exes
Skills: Defense, Hunting, Kenjutsu (Katana), Meditation, Tea Ceremony, any one Lore skill, any one
Bugei Skill
Honor: 5.5
Starting Outfi t: Light or Heavy Armor, Daisho, Traveling Pack, 3 koku.

TECHNIQUES:
RANK 1: WING OF THUNDER
The kenku style harnesses the speed of the wind itself. After rolling initiative, you add a bonus equal to
twice your Kenjutsu or Iaijutsu rank (whichever you are using). If your Initiative score is higher then your
opponent’s you gain a +1k0 to your attack roll for each 5 points by which yours exceeds his. You also add
your Air Ring to the total of all your attack rolls made with a Katana.

RANK 2: HEAVEN’S CLAW


A kenku swordsman does not simply strike at the body, but at the soul. If an attack made by you inflicts
at least 10 Wounds. your target loses a Void Point. If the target has no Void Points remaining the attack
inflicts an additional number of Wounds equal to twice your School Rank. You add your Fire Ring as a
bonus to the total of all your Initiative rolls

RANK 3: LIGHTNING KISS


The swordsman has captured the swift fury of lightning. You may make an additional attack per round.
You also receive a bonus equal to twice your Air Ring to your attack rolls made with a katana, replacing
the benefit from Rank 1.

RANK 4: ROIL & CHURN


A master of the kenku style wastes no energy. If your attack roll exceeds your opponent’s Armor TN, you
add the amount by which you exceeded his Armor TN to your damage total. You receive a bonus equal
to twice Fire Ring to all your Initiative rolls, replacing the benefit from Rank 2.

RANK 5: THE SAME BREEZE


To the keknu, all styles are one. You may spend a Void Point duplicate the Technique of any bushi within
20’ of you. You must have seen the bushi use this Technique, and this effect lasts for 1 round. You may
not use other Techniques while duplicating a Technique in this manner. You gain a bonus equal to your
Air Ring x3 to the total of your attack rolls made with a katana, replacing the benefit from Rank 3.
