Assignment BEL30403 – S1 Semester I 2018/2019

Students are required to design, simulate and construct a third order active band pass filter using
Op-Amp. The circuit must be simulated using any simulation software to verify the circuit is
functioning according to the specification given. The circuit must be constructed and measurement
must be made to verify that the circuit does behave as a third order active band pass filter. A
presentation and demonstration session will be held during the13th week of the semester. A project
report (hard copy) must be submitted not later than 6th December 2018. All of the simulation file
must be e-mailed to jaisl@uthm.edu.my

The specification of the filter for each group is as follows:

A report by the group must be submitted and must include at least the following:
1. Introduction.
2. Discussion and elaboration on the importance of active filter in electronic system and relate
it to the current technology trend.
3. Theory regarding the circuit being designed including any related calculation.
4. The complete circuit diagram of the circuit with all the components listed.
5. Result from the simulation done on the circuit using the simulation software.
6. Result from the testing (Measurement made on the constructed circuit).
7. Analysis and discussion on the result.
8. Conclusion/Summary.
9. Reference – list of all the books/magazines/journals/etc. that are used and referred. Please
use the standard format in listing the references. Please refer to these sites for proper
format in citing the references.

This assignment will carry 15% of the course total marks. 5% each on cognitive (CLO1),
psychomotor (CLO2) and affective (CLO3).
