UTILITY BILL SUMMARY
How much are you spending on gas and electricity per year? Results of Your Home
This chart shows how much you're spending annually on utility bills and the amount that's being spent on gas vs. electricity. Your Energy Audit
utility costs are an important factor when deciding which efficiency measures make the most sense for your home. Williams Residence
Mar 26, 2010
Gas is most certainly your highest expenditure, so this is the main area of focus for your home.

Cost of Gas & Electricity per month

Gas & Electric Costs from March 2009 to February 2010
Total kWh* Consumed 2,373
Average Cost Per kWh $0.13

PG&E ELECTRICITY RATES
How much are you paying for top tier electricity? Results of Your Home
PG&E encourages energy conservation by increasing the price you pay for electricity over a baseline. Electricity in the top rate Energy Audit
tiers costs almost four times as much as power at the baseline. Therefore, any conservation that can be achieved will have a Williams Residence
disproportionately large impact on your bill, as you will be conserving the most expensive electricity first. Mar 26, 2010

Tier Usage (kWh) % of Total Usage Annual Cost % of Total Cost

Tier 1 - $0.115963 2,369 100% $275 100%

ENERGY LOSS
Where is energy being lost in your home? Results of Your Home
We have calculated your home's actual performance through a method known as Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) Energy Audit
Manual J. This process allows us to precisely understand how each component of your building affects your heating load, and Williams Residence
identify which areas are most appropriate to improve based on your health, comfort and efficiency goals. Mar 26, 2010

AIR LEAKAGE
How drafty is your home? Results of Your Home
Reducing air leakage is often the single most effective step you can take towards a more efficient, healthy and comfortable home. Energy Audit
Minimizing air leakage can reduce heating and cooling bills, and improve indoor air quality and comfort. During your energy audit Williams Residence
we used a blower door to determine the percentage of air your home exchanges with the outdoors per hour. Mar 26, 2010
•We closed off (taped shut) the extremely leaky kitchen pantry door, upper bedroom #3 window and door frame were taped,
laundry room vent pipe and cat door were sealed and fireplace was shut: Results: 7,028CFM at 36 pascals
•We then closed off the duct supplies and returns and the leaky upstairs closet door: Results: 6,182 CFM at 44.4 pascals

DUCT LEAKAGE AND INSULATION
How leaky is your ductwork? Results of Your Home
Duct leakage is a major contributor to energy waste and poor indoor air quality. A duct system should act as a closed loop in Energy Audit
which no indoor air is lost to the outdoors and no outdoor air is introduced into your home. A well sealed and insulated duct Williams Residence
system is a key component to a healthy and efficient home. Mar 26, 2010

WALL INSULATION
How well are your walls insulated? Results of Your Home
Walls typically account for a large percentage of total heat loss due to the amount of wall surface area to the outdoors. When Energy Audit
possible, adding wall insulation to an existing home can greatly improve comfort and efficiency as well as decrease outdoor noise. Williams Residence

ATTIC INSULATION
How well is your attic insulated? Results of Your Home
After air sealing, attic insulation is typically one of the best "bang for your buck" steps you can take towards a more efficient and Energy Audit
comfortable home. Well installed attic insulation acts as a barrier to summer and winter heat loss to and from your attic. It's like a Williams Residence
nice thick, winter hat for your home that saves you money all year round. Mar 26, 2010

will not exceed your gas base load costs which is an important factor when deciding to upgrade to a high efficiency water heating Williams Residence
system. Mar 26, 2010

SUMMARY
Dear Mr. Williams, Results of Your Home
Energy Audit
Thank you for taking the opportunity to learn more about how your home works. It’s a very important
first step to leading a more energy conscience life. Since your home works as a system, the upgrades Williams Residence
we recommended will provide the greatest benefit if completed as a whole. This report is essentially a Mar 26, 2010
road map to improving your home’s total efficiency, while considering health, comfort and lifestyle. All
of the repairs recommended have measurable targets in which we can determine if the work is
completed and will those targets.

We are a full service general contracting firm, so if you are interested in contracting with us to make
specific improvements we will be happy to provide a more detailed bid for any of the items detailed in
this report. Based on the comprehensive analysis we’ve already completed, we can lay out a detailed
preliminary work scope and price estimate to achieve the goals we’ve set. We also test-out our work
for proven results. We will be happy to discuss further costs in rough terms at any time.

Sincerely,

The Energy Beyond Design Team
