I've just installed Windows 7 RTM (clean install) and loaded VM Workstation 6.5.2. My pre-existing Virtual Machines
(those created within windows 7 RC) are experiencing problems with the Mouse. The virtual machines mouse seams to
be in conflict with that of the host's - two pointers inches a part and moving together; as long as both are in the virtual
machines active window the larger of the two works. If the smaller pointer moves outside of the virtual machines window,
control passes back to the host machine. The problem is worst when VMtools has been installed.
Has anyone got any ideas?

It has just been confirmed by VMWare that the current version of VMtools is not compatible with Windows 7 RTM. An
upcoming release will address these issues.

I have experienced the same thing. One thing that helps is if the guest operating system is a Windows platform, in the
control panel turn on mouse trails. You see two mouse pointers then, but can tell that the lower one is the one to watch for
when you are in the guest OS. No idea why this works, but it helped me out tremendously.

New version of VmWare Toolkit as an official support of W7 will be implemented in VmWare Workstation 7, which now is
available as closed beta.

To fix the mouse issue, go to the properties of the vmware shortcut you use to launch the app. On the compatibility tab,
place a check next to "Disable diplay scaling on high DPI settings".
This fixed the mouse issue for me. If only now I could get the networking to work in my VMs.

Great tip Stevo! I can confirm that changing the DPI to 100% fixes the mouse problem in guests on my Windows 7 RTM
host, both with and without VMware tools installed in the guests (including the VMware mouse driver), and in Windows
XP/2003/2008 and Linux (Ubuntu 9.04 and Backtrack) guests.
However, to totally eliminate the mouse problems, I couldn't just modify the compatibility options in the shortcut to launch
VMware, I had to change the DPI setting globally for Windows (YMMV). Maybe some experimentation with the other
compatibility options in the shortcut will do it...
To change your DPI in Windows 7 globally, open Control Panel > Display > Set Custom Text Size (DPI) > select 100%.
(You can also just choose the "Smaller - 100% (Default)" radio button in the Display applet.)
