FINAL PROJECT
SUITABILITY ANALYSIS FOR FUTURE LANDSCAPE DEVELOPMENT AT KUANTAN
DISTRICT, PAHANG, MALAYSIA
Course Outcome:
CLO 3 Explain the basic technical and analytical skills using desktop application in
landscape resource, land use and spatial planning.

Overview
For final project of this class, a group of 3 students must be formed. Each group need to
discuss and decide which land use type need to be proposed in their landscape development
plan. The proposed land uses for this project are as follow:
• Nuclear Power Plant- minimum 10 ha. (3 GROUPS)
• Incinerator Facilities (Waste Management Facility) – small scale (3 GROUPS)
• Amusement Park (e.g. Legoland, Disneyland, USS) – minimum 20 ha. (3 GROUPS)
• International Airport - minimum 50 ha. (3 GROUPS)
• Military Training Ground - minimum 20 ha. (3 GROUPS)
• New International Industrial Port – minimum 15 ha. (3 GROUPS)

Submission Requirement
The outcome of this project should explain about all the GIS steps taken clearly and show
the flowchart of the process. The softcopy of all GIS data compilation and board should also
be submitted. The outcome of this project shall be compiled and submitted according to the
following format:

1. A poster of A2 Size of paper which includes:

• Introduction
• Overview of overall landscape development planning (Description about your
Landscape Development Plan for Kuantan District, Pahang including development
philosophy/theory, goal and objectives, issues, concept/theme etc.)
• Location criteria (suitability factors and parameters) – explain all criteria and detail
parameters (with references) with complete flowchart
• Detail GIS process with process flowchart of proposed land use and development to
form for the study area.
• Results and Suggestion
• Conclusion

2. A report of GIS process which comprise detail explanation of complete GIS steps &
procedures involved (e.g. data extraction, manipulation, editing, geo-referencing,
analysis etc.) with process flowchart of proposed land use and development to form for
the study area. All steps, processes and results shall have a standardized format and
legend and should print in black and white accept your result maps (color).

3. Softcopy of all GIS processed data (.img & .shp) and Final map document (.mxd), the
poster & GIS report with references (.pdf format) - submit via a CD/DVD per 1 group.

Please be reminded that the Final Project marks will cover 50% from overall grading.

SUBMISSION DATE: 14th DECEMBER 2018 (FRIDAY)

All submission should be made before 5.00pm. Submit ALL your works at Room A04-010.
Late submission shall be penalized. 1 grade will be deducted for 1-day late
submission.
