Learning aims:
 To reinforce vocabulary from previous lessons.
 To develop cognitive skills.

Learning focus:
 Reinforcement of previous vocabulary: banana, Apple,
grapes, orange, pears, yellow, red, gGreen, orange, purple.

Integration of skills:

 Speaking skills as they have to participate during the

routine and the presentation and activities.
 Cognitive skills, as they have to match the fruits with the
colour.
Multiple intelligences:
 Linguistic intelligence: as they have to participate orally
during most of the activities (routine, presentation and
activity)
 Musical intelligence: as they will listen to two songs and if
possible, they will join in.
 Logical-mathematical intelligence: as they have to count
how many children came during the introductory routine
and then they have to match the fruits with their
correspondent colour.
 Naturalistic intelligence: as the activities are related to
fruits.

Materials and resources:

 “Hello song”.
 “Goodbye song”.
 Guitar.
 Flashcards with fruits.
 Coloured flashcards.

Possible contingencies:
 Children don’t understanding instructions for the activities.
 Children getting bored during some activities.
 Timing (teacher’s responsibility).

Classroom management strategies:

 Drawing children’s attention by calling them by their names.
 Placing a finger in front of the lips in a demonstration of silence.
 Encouraging them to make a relaxing pose. Eyes closed, arms at
the sides of the head and saying “ummmm” as if they were
meditating.
 If necessary, give instructions in Spanish for the activities.
 “High five” them when they participate.

Assessment: collecting information and reporting your findings

 Observing their engagement during the activities.
 Observing the use of language in the classroom when they are
interacting with peers.

Lesson stages:

Routine
Purpose: to say “Good morning” and as a warm up. To make children
aware that today is the last class of the year.

Timing: 5 minutes

Activity description and instructions as they will be said to

students (include direct speech): Say “Hello! Good morning!” to the
students. Sing the “Hello song”.
Ask them if they are OK (with thumbs up) or if they are sad (with
thumbs down).
Ask “What is the weather like today?” and then count how many
students came to school.

Scaffolding strategies: gestures like pointing or thumbs up to

elicitation of answers like “I’m ok”. Drawing on the board a sun when I
say that is sunny for example. Start counting so they can continue by
themselves.

Transition comment to link each stage of the lesson with the next
one: “Do you remember what we learned in the last lesson? We learned
about FF…FFRUU… Yes! Fruits! Very good! Let’s remember some fruits!”

Lead-in and Presentation

Purpose: to reinforce vocabulary about fruits.

Timing: 7 minutes

Activity description and instructions as they will be said to

students (include direct speech): Show the children flashcards with
fruits: banana, apple, orange, pear, grapes. Encourage children to say the
words in L2. In case they do not remember them, say the initial syllable
of the said word in order to help the students.

Scaffolding strategies:
Repetition during the presentation of vocabulary. Give good
commentaries on the children’s attempt to reproduce target language.

Transition comment to link each stage of the lesson with the next
one:
“Excellent, well done. Now what if we play a game with fruits and
colours?”

Development of the sequence of activities

ACTIVITY: MATCH THE FRUITS WITH THE COLOUR

Purpose: to reinforce vocabulary about fruits and colours.

Timing: 5 minutes

Activity description and instructions as they will be said to

students (include direct speech): show the children coloured
flashcards: yellow, red, purple, orange and green. Also, children are
shown flashcards with fruits: banana, apple, pear, orange and grapes.
Explain that they will have to guess which colour each fruit is. Ask them,
for instance “Which fruit is yellow?” “Banana” should the students
should respond. Repeat the sequence with all the fruits.

Scaffolding strategies: offer your help in case children cannot

remember either fruits or colours. Congratulate every contribution.

Closure
Purpose: to sing the “Goodbye song” and say hello”

Timing: 3 minutes.

Activity description and instructions as they will be said to

students (include direct speech): tell the children that they have to sit
on the rug because now it’s time to go, so we are going play the
“Goodbye song”. Then, say goodbye.

Each activity must be described in terms of the following components:

 Purpose
 Timing
 Activity description and instructions as they will be said to
