Preparations
ATTENTION! Your computer will restart during the installation process, so save all your open files
and close all unused windows. There is no need to connect your BMW INPA diagnostics cable to the PC
for now. This manual applies to ALL WINDOWS VERSIONS – simply follow the instructions below.
1. If you have received your software on a memory stick, connect it to your computer, open it
and then skip directly to step №6. Make sure you have installed INPA & ISTA-D FIRST!
2. If you have not received a memory stick but CD;s or download links insert the CD1 - CD8
each at a time and copy All parts to desktop and create after the Folder ,,ISTA_P,, And put them inside

4. After all the files are downloaded, open the folder containing them:
Right-click the file named “ISTA – P Auto_Motive1” and select “Extract Here” in order to extract
5. all the software. ATTENTION! Do not extract the other files, everything will be extracted
automatically!

17. If you see the following window, then your computer already has the last version of
Flash Player installed and you can select “Quit”. Otherwise simply follow the on-
screen instructions in order to install it.

19. Return to the folder with the software and open the file “SHOCKWAVE_INSTALLER_SLIM.EXE”:

19. Remove the checkmark from the “Include Norton Internet Security” box and select “Next”:

21. Wait for the installation to finish and then select “Close”:

ATTENTION! Restart your computer before continuing with the installation!
24. Open the start menu and type ‘network’. Select “View network connections” from
the results:

26. There should now exist an entry named “USB”, as shown on the picture.

29. Right-click the same entry again and select “Properties”:

39. Go to the folder with the software again and open the folder “ISTA-P” inside it:

44. Select “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” and click on “Next”:

45.Select “Install”, in order for the installation of BMW ISTA-P to begin. ATTENTION! The

installation may take up to an hour and a half, during which you can use your
computer normally. Do not shut it down, power it off, reboot it or put it in “Sleep
mode”, otherwise you will have to start the installation process from the beginning!

46. If you come across the following error after the installation process – having the window
tucked away invisibly and out of reach, as shown on the picture – right-click on the
taskbar and select “Cascade windows”. If everything is alright, continue to the next step.

49. If you are using 64-bit Windows, copy the folder “LOADER V3.2” from the memory stick (or
the downloaded folder) and paste it in “C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)”. If you are using 32-bit
Windows, copy and paste the same folder in
“C:\P

52. Rename the newly created shortcut to “BMW ISTA-P Loader” by deleting the rest of the text:

53. Return to the folder “LOADER V3.2” and open it again. Inside open the folder “JAVA
RUNTIME OFFLINE INSTALLER”:

58. There you will find the following two files. Copy and paste them to the Desktop:
60. If you are using 64-bit Windows, ONLY run the file named “3.55.0.300 REGISTER (64BIT)”.
Otherwise, run ONLY the one named “3.55.300 REGISTER (32BIT)”.
61.Select “Yes” in the small warning window and then select “OK”. You can then delete
these two files.

62. ATTENTION! The following steps should be followed every time you use the ISTA-P
software. Connect your BMW INPA diagnostics cable to the appropriate USB port on your
computer and run BMW ISTA-P from the desktop shortcut:
During the first execution of the program you will have to make some initial adjustments and
settings, so continue to the next step. Every time you run the program after that, you can skip directly to
step №66.
63.Check the “Expert mode” option in the small window, without changing the other fields, and
select “Save”:
64.When prompted for a name, address, ZIP code and town, just enter something random. This

will not affect the way you can use the software. Select “Save” to continue:

65.If you see the following windows, check both of the boxes and select “Allow access”:

66. Wait for BMW ISTA-P to load and you shall see the small window from the
picture. First select “Start K+DCAN ICOM Emulator”:

67. On the first execution of the program you will see the same window again.
Place checkmarks in both boxes and select “Allow access”:

68. When the small window displays the text “EMULATOR NOW RUNNING”, as shown on
the picture, select the leftmost icon to diagnose your vehicle:

68. Select “Select ISTA-P server automatically” and click on “Continue” in the bottom-
right corner:

71. In the new window select the only existing entry (named something similar to “K+DCAN
USB 169.254.0.8:6801”) and select “Connect”:

71. If everything has been set up correctly, you should see the following window. When you
connect your diagnostics cable to your car, you will see the full details and parameters here
and you can use the BMW ISTA-P software with every feature and function available.

73. After you finish using the software and close the ISTA-P program, you should also stop
the K+DCAN emulator. In order to do this, place the mouse cursor above the icon “IFH-

SERVICE”, as shown on the picture, and press the red X.
