Describe how you would incorporate an Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity

in your classroom:
I could incorporate an Online Project into any subject/lesson being taught in my classroom. This
means that students could for example write about a time in history for social studies, the life of an
animal for science, or a narrative for language arts.
Online Projects are a huge benefit for students because they gain more hands-on experience
creating their own content using technology. Allowing your students to create their own stories will
help them to gain a deeper understanding of the content because they will have the opportunity to
reflect and add their own flare to the information. Regardless the age or ability level, online projects
can hugely benefit your students.

What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a classroom?
Either a laptop, desktop computer, iPad, tablet, etc.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them
may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level).
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often beyond their
school: Students will be sharing their stories with a partner after completing them.

b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (creating original data and or producing original
products as a result of engaging in a project): Students will be creating their own interactive narrative
story using inklestudio.com.
c. Higher-order thinking: N/A
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their product: Students will
have the opportunity to post the link to their inkle story on the class blog for others to view online

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This website can be used in other languages which can help
English Learner students and their parents to access the information easily and still be able to create
their own stories through inklestudio.com. There are also captions that can be turned on for those
who can’t hear very well and need to read along with the video tutorials.

Lesson idea implementation and Internet Safety Policies: I will have my students complete an
online project after we complete a lesson on narrative writing. The lesson will include read alouds,
examples, and details about what a narrative story is. After the students have a general
understanding of what narrative writing is, the students will be introduced to inklestudio.com. Once
they get directions on how to use the website, they will write their own narrative story through the
website. To follow the county policies, the students will not be allowed to go onto another website
unless granted permission.

Reflective Practice: Overall, I think that this lesson went very well. The students really enjoyed
getting to take on writing a narrative story in more of a creative way. I think that the technology
aspect of this lesson was what made it enjoyable for the students because it made it something
different than the writing assignments they are used to.
